Chuck Ivy & the Blue Tree Chuck Ivy Live at Blarney Fest
1995 Chuck Ivy playing Chapman
Stick Chuck Ivy from the liner notes of
'The Dark Lady'
This picture was taken in my back yard when I was living in The Village near Rice University. Heather Dority took the picture as a long overdue birthday present. I liked the grain of the bark in the background, and made the photo a duotone in Photoshop to give the texture an unfamiliar look. Here I am playing my Ibanez AFR-104, a limited edition bass that I absolutely love. This shot was taken by Alan Laas at Rockefeller's in Houston. The hat was from Worth & Worth.(I believe that year I was wearing a Prescott) Ken Dickinson took this picture of me playing my Chapman Stick at some point in 1994 or 1995, early in my days with Ceili's Muse. He was shooting a lot of black and white back then, so I thought I'd knock out the boring stage background and liven things up in Photoshop. This is the photo that was used as my bio picture in the liner notes for The Dark Lady. I wasn't particularly thrilled with this one, but I guess it's not too bad, as a lot of people have asked me to autograph it...
my custom Robin 5-string bass Ceili's Muse - Maggie
Drennon, Chuck Ivy & Anders Johansson NS/Stick
I had this bass custom made for me by Robin Guitars. It's a five-string lined fretless with a walnut body and an ebony fingerboard with maple inlay for the fret lines. I tune it EADGC instead of using a low-B, but I have added a HipShot detuner so I can play in Drop-D tuning. One of the last publicity photos of Ceili's Muse. Me (center), Maggie Drennon & Anders Johansson. My latest toy, the NS/Stick. 8-strings: BEADGCFBb (or BEADGCEA when I'm feeling like a guitarist...)
