Fazia's note:
I created this web page in August of 1995, as a way to explain what the Moomintroll books were all about to my friends. Moomin-mania hasn't reached the United States yet, and none of my friends had a Finnish background.

I searched the web for a URL I could point them to when I explained in e-mail what the Moomintroll books were about. To my surprise, despite the many web pages from Finland, there was practically nothing about Moomintroll on the web. I did a little library research, scanned the covers of my worn-out books and wrote a web page in just a few days. It was the only page on the WWW at the time dedicated to the Finnish trolls; I had a hard time figuring out where it should go in Yahoo! The e-mail I've received as people started accessing it was heart-warming.

Then this page went into a long hiatus as I moved to a new job, new place to live, etc. I checked about six months later with the popular search engines and found 10 references to Moomintroll. Nine months later there were 23 references. When I last did a net search I came up with 435 sites that had the word "moomin" in it. Wow.

I've finally had a chance to work on the site some more and as you can see, it's grown from one page into a whole site. There are plenty of new links and new information. The Moomintroll books are now available for purchase through this website and my association with Amazon.com. See links below for further details. Enjoy!

"A Moomintroll is small and shy and fat, and has a Moominpappa and a Moominmamma. Moomins live in the forests of Finland. They like sunshine and sleep right through the winter. The snow falls and falls and falls where they live, until their houses look like great snowballs. But when spring comes, up they jump...."
- Kaye Webb, editor of Puffin Books 1974.

I've chosen to link with Amazon.com because I believe they deliver excellent customer service, are extremely reliable, and truly have a global spirit when they conduct their business. I have also been EXTREMELY impressed with their selection, and their ability to deliver hard-to-find titles.
