Joe Obrin's Personal Page

Greetings! I get some of my Internet service, including storage fror the page which you are now reading, from Illuminati Online. I have been on IO for a long time, and they have a great service. But, I only use it for my web pages and my "permanent" e-mail address. If you are looking for some specific info on one of my pages, you can try my site map.

But, IO is not my dial-up ISP. In fact, I don't have a "dial-up" ISP anymore. I have graduated to broadband service with a cable modem! It is fast!!Cable modem is the way to go, if you can get it, it beats the pants off of DSL. We happen to live in the Comcast service area, but whoever is providing cable modem in your area, it is worth looking into.

This page contains some fun, and some business. As an example of business, I thought I'd put my resume here.

I have resurected my business, Four Point OH Consulting. At this time, it is pure engineering consulting, in the areas of embedded processors and programmable logic design. I am pretty preoccupied with a big (well, big from my perspective) aerospace contract at this time.

I and my family reside in Arvada, CO, USA which is a suburb of Denver, CO, USA.

I have been through several computer platforms in my time, but we are primarily a Macintosh household now. We now have a Titanium PowerBook, an iBook, and an IMac (G4) These laptops are awfully nice, and at least we are staying the heck away from Microsoft. And the "floating screen" on the IMac is something to see.

The other thing you notice on my intro page is that I am pretty stuborn about my weight. Fat acceptance has become something I really believe in. I'm now active in the Rocky Mountain Chapter of NAAFA, and am maintaining their web page.

My favorite Internet tip, (in case you asked), is to use Google if you can't find what you want.
I guess I have become something of a fanatic about Walt Disney World (but I've seen worse;^). Debbie and I went in 1988, and we took Nick for the first time for the 25th aniversary in 1997. We then went back in the summer of 1999, made the millennium celebration in February of 2000 (that trip was centered on Nick's birthday). In March of 2001, we combined a trip to WDW with a Disney Cruise. We went again late in 2001, spending New Years Eve at the world, and that was a tremendous experience. We returned in October of 2002, enjoying the Halloween atmosphere of WDW. Then, in 2004, we went back for another combined WDW/cruise experience. You can check out all of our trip reports and photos on our own little Disney World page.

From the standpoint of weather, prices, and crowds, going in February wins hands down! Whenever you go, though, you'll have a blast!

We've bought into Disney Vacation Club now. We have points at the Wilderness Lodge Villas, although we are wishing it was Boardwalk Villas at this point. But, we're still confident it will work out well.

If you are looking for some more great Disney World information, planning tips, and so forth, check out the Walt Disney World Information Guide!

My son
Debbie Let's see...What else? Debbie, my wife, enjoys creating photo albums. Memory Makers Magazine provides lots of helpful hints. Nicholas, my son, loves to ride his bike, ice skate and roller blade. Then there's that video game obsession (Nintendo 64, Mac and Nintendo Game Cube).

He is growing faster every day.

Visit Debbie's Album to see some of Debbie's favorite pictures of Nick. This are pretty old now, but are still some great pictures.

Nick is finished with Cub Scouts now. Debbie and I both helped out with running his Pack. In fact, his first internet "project" was settiing up the web page for Pack 531, Den 5 (although he got a lot of help from Dad). We actually have pages now for all our dens, which can be accessed from the Pack 531 web page.

Now Nick has moved into Boy Scout Troop 667. There is an official web page for Troop 667. In addition, we are collecting  in our (nonofficial) web space a few photos and stories of Nick in Troop 667.

Here are some pictures of our new puppy!

In April of 1998, we lost my mother, Esther Obrin. Here are some memories of Esther.
