Our Virtual Christmas Lights Tour through Zilker Park in Austin, TX
[click here to skip the narrative and go directly to the pix]Thousands visit Zilker Park and Barton Springs all year 'round, but something happens at Christmastime that compels families to endure horrendous traffic jams in order to experience a true holiday marvel. Zilker Park (at least as of 1993) holds title to the largest electric christmas tree in the world. Built of electric lights on a lighting tower dating from the 1920's, the Zilker Christmas Tree stands 152 feet tall, and can be seen for miles. Nearby, a yule tide fire burns using whole tree trunks for fuel, and Santa and his friends entertain everyone with games and song. Zilker Park is also host to thousands of visitors wanting to experience its Trail of Lights, a spectacular display sponsored by local businesses and organizations.
Last year, thousands enjoyed the Christmas images here. This year, we have another 40 or so images for your seasonal perusal, bringing the total to over a hundred images.
