[Calendar of Events] [About Texas AutoNut] [Car Clubs & Associations]
Texas AutoNut is a World Wide Web clearing house of information pertaining to Automotive Events and Clubs in Texas: hotrods, street and custom rods, classic, antique and restorable cars and trucks, and auto racing. The information displayed in the Calendar of Events, and the Car Clubs and Associations, is free to all.
A few years ago, a heap of rusted metal insinuated itself into my psyche and awoke a long slumbering interest in old cars and hotrods. My interest had been asleep for so long because, for years, I had but a pittance to devote to my wild fantasies - if that. Nowadays ... I still have but a pittance to devote to such wild fantasies .... but, dammit, I got tired of waiting, and that rusted hulk just kept tickling my imagination. So I threw my hard earned money at it, against my better judgement. (It still jabs me in the ribs from time to time, saying,"See there, I told you.") The old truck couldn't do anything but look at the money that had fluttered to the ground before it, so I gathered it up again, and turned and handed it to the man standing near me, who was astonished at the whole scene, to say the least. On a hope and a prayer, I started her up and drove her, all wobbly, from Taylor to my home near Pflugerville. The engine was strong, but the transmission expired upon arrival, in a puddle of purple goo.
Since then, I have been collecting parts and making plans, drawing sketches and asking question after question after question. Scrounging in every boneyard, backyard, sideroad, magazine and newletter for parts and information. And I have found that, above all, the searching is the hardest part of the hobby. I subscribe to more than a half a dozen publications devoted entirely to the hobby. I occasionally buy several other publications from the newstand, when they run articles that interest me. I attend events that I hear about in time, and I belong to an auto club. I derive information from each of these sources, but not one carries all the information for local Texas events. Even combined, they don't carry all the information.
