Using what you've learned so far about FrameMaker, write a memo about yourself, your interests, your background (similar to the get-acquainted memo you wrote earlier in this semester). Here's what to do:
- Create a new FrameMaker file, and name it using your first name, your last name, _pmemo1 for the assignment number and draft, anding with .fm as the file extension. For example, if your name is Charlie Brown, name the first draft of this project charliebrown_pmemo1.fm; the first revision, charliebrown_pmemo2.fm, and so on.
- In this memo, discuss any of the following about yourself that you are willing to share:
- Your career goals—where technical communication fits into it.
- Your field or occupation; current work.
- Why you're taking online ETWR 2472; advantages, problems you foresee in taking a class this way.
- Your computer setup: your computer hardware and software, how you access the Internet or ACC's computer; whether you have WorldWide Web and e-mail access.
- How much familiarity you have with using desktop-publishing software like FrameMaker.
- What you hope to gain from this course, which areas of writing you would like to focus on.
- Where you're from—your hobbies, non-work interests, activities, "favorites" (music, food, movies, TV, cars, sports, sports teams).
- Make several words bold.
- Make several words italic.
- Create some headings on which you Arial font, 24 points, bold
- For a separate paragraph, indent the margins one full inch.
- Use the Character catalog to make a phrase Emphasis.
- Use the Paragraph Catalog to make a phrase Heading1.
- Make a three-item bulleted list using the Paragraph Catalog.
- Make a four-item numbered list using the Paragraph Catalog. Stop the list, add some regular-paragraph text, and start a new numbered list, making sure to restart this new numbered list at 1.
- Force the document to go to a second page; insert page numbering in the document.
Your grade for this project will be based on your successful completion of all the FrameMaker tasks listed above.
