Texas West of the Pecos

The icon above is a view of Colorodo Canyon between Presidio and Big Bend National Park.

Big Bend National Park

Theresa looking for ``Dom.'' (Obscure film reference.)

Theresa and ``Chester,'' a Lajitas kind of horse.

Theresa at Fort Davis, standing at the foot of what is arguably the largest cottonwood tree on the planet. This tree and five (?) other giants stand around a spring which presumably decided the location of the frontier fort, one in a chain originally designed to protect commerce and travel between San Antonio and points west.

The Indian Lodge at Fort Davis State Park. This lodge was built by the Civilian Conservation Corp, a depression-era jobs program, and still contains the original axe-hewn funiture. Theresa and I first stayed there in 1980 - the honeymoon suite was 17 bucks!

More to come! ...
