Hibiscus acetosella
is not Jamaican Tea Hibiscus. It is an attractive plant but the flowers
do not have the enlarged calyxes from which tea is made. The confusion
may arise because it is sometimes called False Roselle.
This is Hibiscus sabdariffa,
also known as Jamaican Tea Hibiscus, Jamaica or Roselle. The enlarged
calyxes, pictured on the right, are dried and used for tea.
