HORSETAIL HAVEN

A personal account of herb gardening in Austin, Texas

Read about Horsetails

Austin, Tx is blessed with beautiful scenery and warm winters, but gardeners must also face the curses of alkaline, clay soil and dry, hot summers.  When first moving to the area Ann Marie made all the mistakes newcomers make--azaleas were planted and died, she couldn't understand why pansies planted in May were gone in June.  She became frustrated that her midwestern green thumb seemed to have turned black.  Then she discovered HERBS!!  This page is a description of her experiences with this wonderful group of plants.
