IO Announces Multi-Million Dollar Deal

Scottsdale, AZ - December 12, 2007

IO Data Centers and Empire Power Systems, the Caterpillar distributor for Arizona, Southeast California and Northern Mexico, announced today an arrangement that will ensure IO Data Centers reliable back-up power for the build out of state-of-the-art data centers.

In this agreement, Empire Power Systems will supply Caterpillar back up power generation products to IO data centers. Scheduled for 2008, IO Data Centers Scottsdale ONE data center facility will have 16 megawatts of back up power supplied by Caterpillar. “Over the course of time, Caterpillar products have been dominant in applications that we consider mission critical. Applications such as data centers and life safety systems qualify as mission critical”, states Brett Burns, General Manager at Empire Power Systems.

“We appreciate the efforts of IO Data Centers to bring value to their clients. They certainly didnt take a traditional approach to their power needs”, continues Burns. “The management of the company had prior experience in operating data centers. As a result, they were very involved in the selection process for each section of the power system, and made an all things considered decision on each component. The very nature of stand by power isn’t something that you want to outsource to the lowest bidder.”

“The Caterpillar name implies quality”, states Tony Wanger, Senior Managing Director of IO Data Centers. “Cat has a reputation as being a premium product in this market and that matches up well with our desire to create a high level of confidence in our ability to host our clients most important information. In the arrangement with Empire, we get the highest quality of product and we also have access to the capabilities of a very large Caterpillar distributor.”

“The decisions we make in our design and construction process are really about building confidence for our clients and ensuring a successful operation for the long run. We are confident that we chose the right partner in Empire and Caterpillar products for our back up power generation”, says Wanger.
