IO Continues to Expand

Phoenix, AZ - October 22, 2009

New Inventory to come online ahead of schedule

IO Data Centers, the premier provider of wholesale colocation and data center solutions, began construction on Phase Two of its industry-leading Phoenix ONE facility. The addition of new inventory comes two years ahead of schedule and is the result of unprecedented demand for the company’s offerings. IO Data Centers designs, builds and operates data centers for some of the world’s largest corporations and Web properties.

IO Data Centers’ Phoenix ONE data center is one of the largest commercially available data centers in the United States. Construction of the Phoenix, Arizona based data center began in February 2009. Phase One, which consists of 180,000 square feet of 36 inch raised floor and 20 MW of conditioned, uninterruptible power, is quickly reaching full occupancy.

“Sales activity has been unprecedented,” said George Slessman, CEO of IO Data Centers. “We are extremely pleased with the demand we have seen so far. Our decision to bring additional inventory online and begin construction of Phase Two comes almost two years ahead of schedule. We believe this second phase will address the need for highly reliable and efficient data centers,” said Slessman.

IO Data Centers’ Phoenix ONE data center contains over 57 miles of network cabling and Type I access to more than a dozen telecommunications carriers, including many of the largest in North America. IO Data Centers, which is carrier-neutral, continues to see strong demand from network customers because of its free cross connect service.

IO Data Centers Phase Two construction plans include 180,000 square feet of raised floor, 20 MW of UPS and 36 MW of backup. This will bring the Phoenix ONE facility to 360,000 square feet of raised floor, 40 MW of fully redundant UPS and 72 MW of backup generation. As part of the expansion, the company is also increasing the capacity of its on-site substation to 123 MVA. “This will give us additional flexibility to bring another 20 MW of UPS online and continue to meet the needs of our customers,” said Slessman.
