Qwest Signs New Multi-Million Dollar Agreement With IO Data Centers
Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) today announced a new multimillion-dollar agreement with IO Data Centers to create a super-fast and super-secure data storage facility. By working together, Qwest and IO Data Centers are able to meet the network and data center needs of some of the largest corporations and Web properties in the world.
Qwest engineered a custom telecommunications solution for IO Data Centers Scottsdale ONE data center facility, which includes working within the company’s stringent design specifications. IO Data Centers chose Qwest because it provides an exceptionally robust solution for large bandwidth needs.
“This agreement shows how Qwest is willing to go above and beyond for customers such as IO Data Centers who have mega bandwidth needs”, said Chris Ancell, vice president of sales, Qwest Business Markets group. “Qwest now provides high-capacity network services for many of the top Fortune 500 companies in the nation. And now, other businesses in Arizona can take advantage of the mega bandwidth available in the IO Data Center.”
“We are proud to work with Qwest to offer a direct connection to the Internet for companies who need best-in-class data center space and huge bandwidth”, said senior managing director, Anthony Wanger. “Our Scottsdale ONE data center facility is perfect for enterprises of all sizes but is particularly ideal for companies looking to outsource high-performance application hosting and primary or redundant data center operations, and who need N+1 and 2(N+1) data center service level specifications.”
Qwest has turned the Scottsdale ONE data center into a TeraPoP and Layer 3 site where customers can connect directly to the Internet. This means the center will be able to provide customers with Internet speeds from 1 Gigibit per second (Gbps) to 10 Gbps. IO Data Centers is utilizing a GigE port from the Qwest 40 Gbps backbone, which is accessible from that location today. Additionally, Qwest and IO Data Centers have designed this Scottsdale data center site for future scalability of 40 Gbps and 100 Gbps interfaces.
