Military Bicycles of the Second World War

STATUS: 2002 Restoration Complete
Model: Phillips Heavy Infantry (aka Bertha Mk I)
Serial Number: N362139
Manufacturer: Phillips, England

Infantry bicycle procured from the Terratorial Army. Bertha arrived with several coats of paint, but all there. Imported from Newcastle England to Austin, Texas. (Thanks John!)
Rod Brakes, oversized 26 x 2 x 1 3/4 tyres, extra large foot pedals

Owner Notes:
Bertha has had her coming out party
It was held at the MVPA Convention, June 27-29, in Dallas Texas
Dark British Green paint, an extremely good match to original. Tyres have had replaced with reproduction vintage versions, as the originals were rotted. Photo does not show her fitted with the center leather tool bag, rifle rack and rear web tool pouch. The rear photo shows how the carrier is made offset to accommodate the rifle location on right side. Beautiful rod style brakes and phillips logos on front and rear.

Note: Bicycle took first place at the convention, in Military Bicycle, Motor Pool Class.
