HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE OXF. & BUCKs. LIGHT INFANTRY
|
MEMBERSHIP FEES, BATTLE FEES and ORGANIZATION DUES All Unit members must first be members of the Texas Military Historical Society (T.M.H.S.), which is our parent organization. Annual membership dues are $15.00 and are normally collected at the first event of the year. First time re- enactors are exempt of the above charge. Upon exceptance into a unit, Society dues will be collected. At every tactical event, a $10.00 battle fee will be collected from every Unit member. $5.00 of this is to cover the T.M.H.S. administrative costs which include paying referees and special items used during the battles. The remaining $5.00 is retained by the Unit to cover its own administrative costs such as battle notices, news letters and postage. First time re-enactors are exempt from the above charges. New members wishing to join the Unit will pay a one time $20.00 membership fee, if accepted as Unit members. They will receive one free pair of Unit shoulder titles for their battle dress. Additional pairs of shoulder titles may be obtained from the Unit treasurer for $10.00 per pair.

At the discretion of the O.C., any rank holder that misses two consecutive battles or any four T.M.H.S. s in the battle year will be reduced to rifleman. If the above applies to the O.C., he can be removed from command by a consensus of the second and third highest ranking Unit members. Any vacant rank will be filled at the soonest opportunity by following the policy guidelines in this document.
No rank holder may participate during the Saturday portion of any tactile event as a member of any other unit (allied or axis) unless the entire Unit is portraying a different impression. It is essential that we maintain our command structure in the field. If you feel you need to be able to switch impressions periodically, do not accept Rank.
The impression our Unit depicts is that of Glider Trained Infantry around the Normandy Invasion time period. Initially on any operation, we would all have essentially the same equipment and weapons with the exception of specialty troops and those with crew served weapons. Our uniforms and kit would be well maintained and in operational condition. Hair would be neatly cut and we would be clean shaven.
Wrist watches, if worn, should be analog as opposed to digital. Round or squared face is equally acceptable as is a modern quartz movement.
If you require eye glasses and do not have contact lenses, you should have your prescription filled in a WW2 military or antique civilian frame.
We encourage everyone to camp at the events because this is a social hobby and we discuss most of our Unit business in camp at battles. As required by the T.M.H.S., we will maintain a military camp. This means no civilian camping equipment should be visible, although modern ice chests, cots and sleeping bags kept in British Military tents is perfectly acceptable. Most battle sites have no facilities of any kind so you should come prepared with potable water, food and whatever else you require for staying in the field for the weekend. When in camp in the evenings, most reenactors prefer to maintain a military look. British denim maintenance uniforms, khaki service dress, or desert shorts for a relaxed and more comfortable time are fine or you can wear your battledress or stay in your smock or string vest.
