Military Bicycles of the Second World War
| Owner Notes: Advertisement from a 1942 Life Magazine: Shows the three models that Columbia was suppling to the US military. The Army and Navy bicycles seem to be straight off the production lines, utlizing the 1940/41 frames and forks. An interesting side note is the mention of Para Marines, a unit of the USMC that was disbanded early in the war. The bicycle actually comes apart in two seperate pieces, connected in the lower frame with a screw-down setup. When seen on the market, many are mistaken for a girls/ladies bike, due to the lack of upper frame piece.
