A review of the statistics for this server has shown me that most of
you have the attention-span of a five-year-old child at a birthday
party.
Presented here is the Cliff Notes version of the story of how
I came to fall in love with the owner of the alphabetic tattoo
you've probably just seen.
Don't worry, there won't be a test.
In high school,
I came to discover a cool, obscure band called "Game Theory".
After a
wait of something close to a year, the band finally played in DC,
near where I lived.
I went to
the show.
I had a
great time.
I got
them to play a request.
I saw an
interesting girl in a really cool jacket.
I was
too intimidated to talk to her.
Not long
after that, the band broke up.
6 years later:
The main
guy from the old band has a new band called "Loud Family".
I'm going
to college at George Mason University.
I have an
Internet account.
I'm into
tattoos and body piercings, and have some on various parts of my body.
I read a
Usenet newsgroup where people talk about those subjects.
It's called
Rec.arts.bodyart
The
newsgroup has a surprisingly large population of librarians that read
and participate in it.
One of them
told us all about her new tattoo.
She had
gotten the alphabet across her back in upper- and lower-case.
I wrote her
some email telling her how cool I thought it was.
She noticed
a reference to Game Theory that I had in my .signature file.
We wrote
back and forth for more than a month before actually meeting for the
first time.
I found out
that SHE was the girl that I wimped out of talking to at that show 6
years earlier!
We fell in
love.
We live in
different states until some time after I graduate.
The distance
is not always easy, but she is more than worth it.
I'm hoping that wasn't a little too long for most of you.
