Beth McCloud & Co.

Back to Sketches Index

Beth McCloud was my alter-ego long and long ago (about 10-11 years!), and the star of some teenage wish-fufillment fiction that I wrote. Most of her friends drew upon mine, and (surprisingly!) the anti-hero/love-interest wound up having several things in common with the man I later married... I called that really weird.

These are by no means all of the McCloud doodles I have. I have about 3 pages of little cutout-doodles taped onto a backing page, all from class papers. These are just the ones that I found which weren't on those "master sheets."

Beth McCloud

Here's the only one of these. Oh, right, I mentioned she's a sorceress, right?

Three-leg Riding Beast

I had a "dream-world"/astral plane where sorcerers could go when they slept. They could also summon Creatures from there. This three-legged horsey-thing was McCloud's favored riding critter. (The little guy in the top may be the evil-sorcerer/love-interest. I forget.)

This is a bone/joint study for the three-leg horsey-thing.

More Dream Creatures

More of the things found in this other realm.

(This one may have some kindship with that thingy one of the Authurian knights was frequently chasing.)

I actually named some of these critters. Pth'raregon, K'tharkis, Sas'thera. The K'tharkis is a nastyevil malicious creature. The Pth'raregon is young (you can tell how old they are by how spiney they are) and friendly. So's the sas'thera. Yes, I've learned not to name things with apostrophes now. (And yes, that's another McCloud picture there. But not a good one.)

Another P'thraregon. Or, rather, the same one I always draw. He's cute.

This is the riding beast of the evil-sorcerer/love-interest. He raised it from a little chick. That thing around its neck is a saddle. It's BIG!

Spear-carrier

I think this is one of that lot (it's the cape), but I'm not sure which one. Lousy little scribble.

More to come...
