Runal Saga
A while back, GURPS
was published in Japanese (by "Sneaker Bunko"? Kadokawa Publishing
Co.? Both have their names on the books...). Along with the GURPS
Basic Set, a worldbook was written -- GURPS Runal:
A Guide to the World under the Seven Moons, by Show Tomono & Group
SNE-- and at least one book of the Runal Saga series. These are nice
little books, with good Japanese art, some unique monsters, weapons, races,
gods (I think) and maps. I can't read them. They're in Japanese.
However, in the back of the first Runal Saga book, there are character
sheets for the main characters! They're in typical GURPS
format, and from them, I gleaned a few words. I think. They're in Japanese.
I'm just guessing what their english counterparts are...
Since it's probably not right to scan them in (and the books -- sweet little
things no longer than my hand -- probably wouldn't take well to having their
spines broken on the scanner), I laboriously copied the words onto another
sheet of paper. I have a HUGE respect for anyone who writes
this stuff on a regular basis! It's hard!
If anyone has the real meanings for these words (or if I got them
right by some miracle), tell me,

Coming Someday: I attempt to draw in the names of the main characters! Michael
says:" The Main guy (the guy with the serated broadsword) is named
Ah-n-di, Andy. The girl, (his fraternal twin, BTW ) is Eh-fa-mii-ri-ahh,
Ephmeria, or Effie for short." THANK YOU, MICHAEL!
J. Hunter says: ``FWIW, your name would be:
e ri za be tsu me kko i
with the double-k being formed with a small 'tsu' followed by a regular
'ko'. The 'za' is 'sa' with diacritics, and 'be' is 'he' with diacritics.''
He also says: ``I used an online reference for all of this, from Yahoo/Reference/Dictionaries/Japanese.
But it is not an over-friendly interface. :-)
