This series consists of eight long books. They present a future where China has conquered and assimilated the entire world, building continent spanning Cities which completely bury all signs of non-Chinese culture, both literally and figuratively. This series details the end of the old order and the rise of a new one. While the story is set in the future and technology is quite advanced, the story is about people and there are very few technical details. While gearheads may miss the technical details, there is a lot less room for inconsistencies and technical errors which sometimes grate in other books. I have read all but the last and look forward to reading it.
