Humor
- Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations
- by Al Franken
Island Books, New York (1996)
This book is hilarious. Rush Limbaugh is such an easy target, though with his size, that's not surprising. Rush is not his only target as Al takes aim at Newt Gingrich, politics in general, etc... This is satire, so he's not being rigorously critical, but he does present facts and figures to support his arguments. The personal attacks are sometimes a bit much for my taste, they border on being mean just to be mean. He also brings up the old bogus 43 to 1 statistic about guns in the home being used against the homeowner. He also impugns the Superconducting Supercollider which, contrary to popular belief, was carefully bringing pork back to all the states, not just Texas. Thos are minor points, I know, but some of my pet peeves. They did not detract from my enjoyment of the book at all, though. I strongly recommend this book for anyone except a die-hard dittohead. The conversations he had with Rush's fact-checker were enlightening... as were the quotes from Rush's mother.
