Poul Anderson (1926-2001)
I will have to go back and list the books I've read of Poul Anderson's, but there are many and I can't believe I haven't had a page for him, yet. Unfortunately, Poul Anderson died recently, a great loss to the science fiction community and the world.
Poul Anderson started writing science fiction in the 40's, moving on to add fantasy to his repertoire in the 50's. He grew up in Minnesota and Texas but lived most of his life in or near San Francisco with his wife, Karen. Karen contributed to some of his books, as well.
- The High Crusade
- This is a fun story about a group of medieval knights who turn an alien invasion around and end up conquering the invaders.

- Starfarers
- by Poul Anderson
This is a fascinating look at interstellar society when all travel is at relativistic slower-than-light speeds. A crew goes out on an incredibly long journey to find another spacefaring civilization. They find it only to return home to an Earth that is almost as alien as the aliens. Very interesting look at how the crews of the relativistic ships will deal with worlds which change so much between trips.
