I really like Tom Clancy's style of writing. He gives a lot of information, both technical and about the characters and story. He is detailed but manages to not be boring. I particularly like the books about the adventures of Jack Ryan. You may have seen some of the movies starring Harrison Ford and Alec Baldwin. The early ones were best but they are all good, as are the movies.
If you buy other Tom Clancy books, beware. Some of his books are actually written by other authors and not all of those other authors are any good. Most recently, I read SSN which was terrible. Check out reviews on Amazon.com and most likely other sites. I'm sure it was not written by Tom Clancy. I've read some of his Net Force books, as well, and am pretty sure he doesn't write all of them, either. Some are labeled as having been written by someone else, but other's aren't so clear. As a result, I'm not buying any more of his books.
