How to measure and mark a Round Shield for SCA shield use.
·
Decide
how big you want the shield..
·
Mark
the center of your blank (which should already be precut to length & width)
·
Put
a small nail in the center if the shield.
·
Figure
out the Radius of the shield (half the diameter) (a 24” round has a 12” radius)
·
Measure
and cut a string about 6” longer than the radius.
·
Tie
a pen or pencil to the one end and tie the other end to the nail so that the
distance between the nail and the pen is the radius of the circle. either the
nail end or the pencil end need to be a loop so it will rotate easily, usually
which ever you tie first)
·
Keep
the string tight and draw a circle around the board
