About Some of the Gardens (more info and pictures coming soon!)
On Barton Hills Drive we find a yard with the Theme "Get Off the Grass!" St. Augustine has been replaced by mulch and native and adapted perennials, shrubs, vines, and trees. On each side of the house, two metal cisterns have been installed to collect rain water from the metal roof.
A Ranch Style Remodel on Cedarview Drive in Barton Hills features low maintenance xeriscape including grasses, bulbines, rosemary, and lorapetalums. Japanese Blueberry (small trees) were used in the front yard replacing the original circular driveway. A large privacy wall creating a front and side courtyard with lap pool and fountain features tropical plantings of Giant Timber Bamboo, Med. Fan Palm and Variegated Ginger.
A recently re-landscaped home on Briargrove Drive replaced dying shade trees and a rotting deck with native and adapted plants. Retaining walls and terracing help to segment the steeply sloping yard into flowing shapes using both natural and cut stone. The deck has been replaced and shade has been added with a custom-made roof area.
Our last garden is on London Drive. At the end of an older neighborhood, is a new road that isn't even on the map yet, with modern houses and beautifully landscaped yards. The front yard has a variety of plantings, including cacti. The mulched beds and stone walkways lead to a courtyard oasis just beyond the fence.
