Writer's Guidelines

There are two types . . .

There are two types of submissions: articles and letters. Both of these can be divided into two types: acceptable and unacceptable. Unacceptable articles include those that don't follow guidelines. Unacceptable letters include rants and flames but not legitimate criticism and concerns. Discussions of playtest materials is right out. (I like playtesting new games and hope to continue to do so. So no one is going to mess that up for me.)

Letters

There are three types of letters: verbatim, edited and spendable, a.k.a, short, long and cash donations. Short letters may be printed as is (and are preferred). Longer ones may be subject to shortening. Both kinds may be edited for content.

Cash isn't needed at this moment, so I'm not providing a street address. This magazine is free and will stay that way as long as I'm providing material that other people's trademarks. Requests for donations will only be made if I ever have trouble covering expenses. But that could only happen if I'm having major bandwidth problems, which in turn implies a major readership. I'd love to have the problem that too many people are reading this magazine.

Articles

There are two types of articles that we're interested in: Car Wars and everything else. By everything else, we mean either generic or perhaps articles for or reviews of other similar games with the same sort of background or influences.

Examples of CW-type articles: rule variants, car designs (once the rules are published, naturally) and GURPS-based roleplaying scenarios.

Examples of independent articles: modeling, building, painting, real-world news and gadgets, incredibly generic roleplaying adventures, and possibly reviews.

This magazine can support original ideas that aren't directly tied to any particular game. In fact, the more independent it is, the fewer legalities that have to be worried over. Which brings us to the next point: money.

There is no payment for articles published in B.A.D.M. at this time. In the future, if there is enough interest to pursue this magazine, we hope to be able to pay for generic articles that don't revolve around anyone else's trademarks or intellectual property. (Even then, it'll probably fall in the range of $5.00 - $10.00 when you consider that this magazine has zero revenue flow.

Fiction

We're not looking for it right now. I'm not sure that many people even read that much of it. But you can try if you like. I'd be crazy to turn down something terrific.

Rights Purchased

B.A.D.M purchases first electronic rights and reserves the right to create a print version should there ever be a "Best of" book. The authors retain all other rights to their own works.

Other Stuff

This space will be updated later for all the stuff we forgot.
