Necropolis Park, Decks, etc.

I'm really curious what people make of Necropolis Park... Do people like it? do they think it'll change the game much? Unfortunately, like (I suspect) many places we have a loyal but small and inbred Guardians circle down here in Melbourne Australia, so we aren't getting the new ideas and stimulation we want.. :)

I want to know what sort of decks people are using.. is anyone out there doing new neat interesting stuff.. I mean there are a lot of canned obvious deck ideas that just fall out of your booster into your hand.. :)

The Fairy deck for example (I have one and It may be my most effective deck)

and there is the makings of a deck..
I added The dark maitz shields (standard bearers stop those nasty bribes)
Tookle leader of the many (mmmm small fairies)

and since most fairies dont care what terrain they are on I added rivers and lakes creatures for Big HURT value... Watchers (just cant go past them for value)

Water Spouts (cause they are small and get large (relatively) bonuses)

a river serpent or two if you can get them..

and some more things that take advantage of small creatures (Gn'Olegable Gnomes, Medallion of Skyphos etc.)

and there we go easy fun deck.. :)

Similar decks can be made around the Pirate theme (my girlfriend has a great version (Pauly the official parrot *rocks!*)) and the Knight version (St Balantines Evocation makes Knights dangerous) and so on (Slag Beasts etc)

so we have the basic theme deck (my fairy deck is perhaps a little unusually tuned and a little more complex than a completely basic theme deck :) (maybe not.. ?)

One of the nastier decks I've played is the flying deck... which can really irritate.. mainly since I don't like modifying my decks too much against a certain sort of deck.. all flying creatures decks (this one was mainly demons and devils) really make it into a much nastier game.. where often you can't slip up... (the Ol'Switchero from NP is going to really matter for flying decks.... weee I'll just fly this 1 creature shield over here to your base see and oooops look at that.. a full one from my stronghold just swapped in.. tragic.. just tragic.

I also have a rather amusing if rather boring (slated for recompilation sometime) expensive deck that I traded some magic cards for (=)) which basically just wants to channel you to death.. lots of those neat hard to get undeads like wraiths and shamblers that can take a lot more channeling then they normally could.. You go in .. hit hard.. channel lots and win..

rather unsubtle but hey.. (hmmm Sacrifical Alter makes it all ok :)

The swamp deck (with the obvious guardian and most of the creatures selecting themselves due to swamp usage).

Hmmm a friend really wants to make the ranged attack deck!! could be nasty.

and so on... what works for people out there?
what do you play and is it fun?
come on people.. talk to me!

let me know if you want card by card run downs on decks I'll see what I can do..

what do you think are the dodgiest cards.. most powerful?

Quickly before I go.. Necro Park impressions:
(yay for the rareties list being out already!)

Sebek, Queen of the magicians is great and I'm just looking for the right spells.. :)

High Priestess of Isis seems to quite happily single handedly destroy mortal basic class theme decks (Pirate, Knight) and as such is scary! (yay the Undead!)

The Assessories are important.. esp The Scarab.. +1 to LUC esp in a deck like my Fairy Deck which almost always has the lower upcard..... and the Gift is also nice for buffering those weak guardians..

anyway thats it for now from me.

For anyone interested I have a spoiler list for the basic set (ie the revised set or whatever you'd like to call it) on my homepage.. any of you who have/are maintaining a Guardians web site feel free to grab it and put it up! (http://www.ecr.mu.oz.au/~bnh)

Anyone in Melbourne who maybe wants to play or trade. let me know (I'll do magic cards for your guardians if you want :)

Ben.

"Tweeking" is the Captain's euphemism for getting squished by a doofus player.

I resemble that remark.

Has anybody out there tried the "multiples of five" deck suggested in the handbook? For those of you who aren't familiar with it, the basic idea is to only use creatures with a vitality that is a multiple of five. This way you can get maxed out shields out very quickly.
Anybody have any luck with this strategy?

Hi

I tried this strategy once and it was not such a success. It was easy to assemble shields but after a few fights my friends found out what creatures I was using and used this against me. It is a big help for your opponent to know what your creatures vitality is. Most creatures in this deck only have 5 or 10 vitality so the combat guessing is mostly disabled. Maybe this deck must have the rares mentioned.

The all flyer-deck was much better. I surprised my first opponent in the 1st game and killed his guardian. Even in the second game when everybody knew my deck the threat of a flying guardian shield was a big help.

I just wanted to tell you of an absolute funny situation that happened in that game. Chris attacked my lonely 13 pt. creature with a 30 pt. creature shield and I survived it ! To clear things up I had a Vesuvios Rex and he played his only 10 pt. critter and had only 5 pointers left. Ooops. I had a great laugh and he did hate it.

I will always remember that.

On the mulitpltes of 5 deck. Dragon Wing Lord and a few little creatures no more no less the flying deck however can be very successful although it must be capable of surviving a few fights before hitting the Guardian.

The sharpest blade does not win the duel but neither can you be victorious with mere conviction in your hands.

Ben,
I had already posted my thoughts on Necropolis Park, but to reiterate it's my least favorite expansion. I didn't feel like the art lived up to the standards set in the previous expansions/original game. And I really disliked the Mayors...it's one thing to be funny, which I like; these cards however, I thought were rather dumb. I loved the saurians, wish there had been more. And of course I enjoyed the addition of more undead and a stronghold to support them (even if it did get cut wrong). I think it will change the game a little with the addition of Accessories and those two negative point creatures allowing you to have more points under a shield. It actually makes a Pink Flamingo deck viable.

As for what kind of decks I play. My favorite is either my Demon/Devil deck or my flying deck. I've also made an all giant deck, a pirate deck, a ranged attack deck, a fairy deck, a knight/slag beat deck. Pretty much all the typical theme decks.

A couple of different decks that I've tried have been: A deck that focuses on winning pushes. Use Warhola's Snake shields, Embryonic witches, Djinn's and any other card that forces a push in the initial match-up.

I've also made an off-color bonus deck that uses only cards that have an off-color bonus of 4 or more.

Well, there's my thoughts for now.

Troy
