Y Treiglad Llaes • The Aspirate Mutation
This one's cake. It only affects three consonants, the most "basic"
once, the voiceless stops /p/, /t/, and /k/. In all cases, airflow is
added. This has the effect of turning /p/ into an /f/, /t/ into a
voiceless th- sound like you'd find in front of the word "think,"
and /k/ into the "ch" sound you find at the end of the word "loch."
Where does the Aspirate Mutation occur?
It only really occurs in three places, only one of which is all
that common:
- After the possessive pronoun "her,"
- After the words "with" and "and," and
- To mark the negative of an inflected verb, which is sort of dropping
by the wayside, so don't lose sleep over it.
