Insructions for the Special Effects Material Library.

Fireball 1, 2, and 3
The Fireball materials are meant to be applied to three nested spheres. White in the center, then yellow, then red on the outside. The VARY.SXP opacity mask should be set to stagger the fadeout of the fireballs from the center, out. The spheres should be keyframed to expand as they fade. If you have the Fireworks IPAS from the Yost Group Particle Systems disk, then add a nice spray of sparks to the explosion as well. These materials require the SMOKE.SXP IPAS procedural texture from the Yost Group Special Effects IPAS Disk. If you don't have this IPAS texture, you'll have to find some other way to create an animating fractal plasma texture.

Shockwave
The shockwave material should be applied to a fast expanding sphere with the VARY.SXP set to fade out fairly fast. Start this one expanding at the moment of detonation.

Water
This material should be applied to a water surface that is already waving due to the application of the WAVES.PXP to a fairly fine grid. The material simulates the look of the tiny wavelets on the surface of the big swells that are actually the mesh waves.

Glass
This is a good glass material. It catches the light on it's edges, and defines the shape of the glass structure without the unrealistic featureless haze that other glass materials impose.
