Tom Neely of Scitex in Dayton did an animation of one their web presses printing on a roll of paper passing over and around many rollers. The animation showed all 4 colors being printed on the paper under separate print heads. Again the "paper" was an extruded spline. The material used a tree of Composite and Mask in the Diffuse channel. The Masks used a rectangle bitmap, black on right half, white on left. The Maps were bitmaps of the printed page in Y, Y+M, Y+M+C, and Y+M+C+Black, tiled. The moving paper was accomplished by animating the Offset value of the bitmap images. The center of the B/W Mask images were placed under each print head.
Looked pretty good.
