This report provides a broad overview of the steps needed to being learning to play the Great Highland Bagpipe. The history and development of the bagpipe, along with the modern set up of the bagpipe, are examined. In addition, information is provided on learning to play the bagpipes, finding a teacher, finding a band, and buying supplies. The report concludes with a discussion of the music of the bagpipe, the structure of bagpipe competitions, and the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association (EUSPBA).
