In this lab, you screen-capture a graphic and then crop unwanted material out of it using any of the techniques discussed in Chapter 11 of Power Tools for Technical Communication:
- First, go to the full-page PDF file (see below) and screen-capture the portion containing the image of the earth. (Resize your PDF viewer so that only the image is showing.)
- Paste your screen capture into your preferred image-editing (such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro) or word-processing software (WordPerfect, Word Pro, Word).
- Use your software to crop out unwanted portions of the screen capture, including the label at the top, "The Greenhouse Effect." (See Chapter 11 on ways of doing this.)
- If you used image-processing software, copy this cropped graphic and paste it into a document you start in your preferred word-processing software.
- Center the pasted graphic on the page and beneath it center this title: "Greenhouse Effect."
- Include a source citation after this title. Use the following materials to create a properly designed citation (see Chapter 21): http://www.epa.gov/globalwarming/kids/greenhouse.html; date you visited this site; January 7, 2000 as the date it was published; Environmental Protection Agency as the corporate author.
- Put your name, Screen captures: Print, and the date on this document, and print it out for your instructor.
