[Xover] Magical Girls Dream Team (2/6) Chapter Two, Princess Dreams. $Id: mgdt_chp2.txt,v 1.9 1997/05/21 14:53:21 hcobb Exp $ By Henry J. Cobb The story so far: Sailor Moon (Usagi Tsukino) has transferred to Graviton Girls High School, as there isn't much left of her old school, friends or family. So far during her first day, she has helped defeat and restore a schoolgirl transformed into a monster pig, with the help of her new companions, Eiko (The girl of tomorrow) Magami and Biko (Iron Girl) Daitokuji. ------------------------------ Tuesday at school was almost as bad for Usagi, Miss Ayumi simply wasn't making any sense. She seemed to be speaking in Japanese, but the sentences wandered widely between subjects. After school, Usagi and Eiko joined Biko in her limo for a ride to the Daitokuji Estate. After several hours in Biko's room, tracking down the divergent references Miss Ayumi had used so far that week, Biko produced a cake with a single candle. "What's the special occasion?" Usagi asked. "It's Eiko's anniversary." Eiko bowed her head and made grinding noises. "Eiko, what's wrong?" Usagi wondered if this was some sort of insult. "Let, her be, she's thinking." Biko replied. For a few minutes Eiko sat quietly then it came to her. "May 3rd, 2015, my first day at Graviton Girls High School! Thanks Biko." "You're welcome." Biko had a small slice of the cake, while Eiko and Usagi evenly divided the rest, but they all seemed to finish about the same time. "I've got something for you too Usagi." Biko pulled out a white dress. "Please let me know how it fits. I had to guess at your measurements." Usagi held the dress in front of her and shuddered. It was an almost exact match for her princess gown. Everybody who had seen her in that was now either dead or as good as dead. "Wh - Where did you get the pattern for this?" "I saw it in a dream last night." Biko looked off into the distance. "You were standing in it, in front of some rose shaped fountains. You looked so regal and sad... What's the problem, don't you like it?" "No, it's fantastic. It's just that my aunt is kinda strict. I guess I'll have to leave it here." "Geez Biko! What were you thinking? What else do you got for her, a tiara and scepter? She'd look like a princess in that getup." "Our princess..." Biko looked suddenly lost. "Oh Biko, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean..." Eiko hugged her friend. "...they took her. They snatched her away and I... I couldn't stop them." Biko began to gently sob into Eiko's shoulder. "Don't worry Biko. We'll get her back. We'll make them pay!" Usagi felt uncomfortable. It was like she'd stumbled into a family's private grief. Finally, Biko relaxed and Eiko tucked her into her bed. "Is she OK?" Usagi asked, after Eiko lead her from the room. "Yes, she just needs some rest. She's been at this night and day, trying to figure out the warp drive." "What was that all about?" "Alien abduction." The two girls walked silently to the front of the mansion. "Usagi, why don't I run you home?" Eiko offered. "OK. Uh, you can drive?" "No, this is quicker." Eiko grabbed Usagi's wrist and sprinted out at a speed Usagi deemed to too fast to even drive on a moonless night. She wondered if Eiko had super vision too. In Eiko's slipstream, Usagi called out. "Alien abduction? Really?" "Yes. OK, it really wasn't an abduction. She went along without complaint. I looked after Shiko full time for eleven years. I did everything but change her diapers, and she hopped on the first ship back to the Black Nebula, with a simple ``Thanks for everything!'' ... That's the last time I put myself out for a space princess." Eiko seemed lost in her own thoughts for a while then continued. "Biko couldn't take the hint. She flew after them. They cut her down. I wish I'd gone with her. I wish I could fly." "What happened?" "I don't know," Eiko considered, "maybe I just don't have the knack for flying." "No, I mean, what happened after the aliens shot down Biko?" "I caught her. I never ran so fast in my life. She was OK, just stunned, with her suit shorted out." "Are you and Biko, you know, well, an item?" Eiko stumbled and fell. Usagi flew over her. "Aaaah!" The street rushed up too quickly for her to transform into Sailor Moon. Just before Usagi's face could impact the pavement, she felt herself being snatched from behind. "Sorry about that. I told you I'm fast." Eiko paused for a moment then continued. "Naw, me and Biko are just best friends. We've got nothing in common. I'm a poor tomboy and she's the rich, glamourous genius, but we get along OK." "You both have superpowers." "Well, there is that, but mine don't short out." "I feel so bad, watching Biko suffer like this, doesn't she have a boyfriend?" "Well, she fell pretty bad for Kei Yuki, but he never said anything to her." "You see?, they just weren't properly introduced." "Here's your Aunt's house. I'll see you tomorrow morning." Eiko left in a cloud of dust. "Mama!" The young girl's scream faded into nothingness. "Chibi!" Usagi sat up in the darkness. It was just the dream again. She looked at the clock. A little early, but why not start out now? There was somebody she could pick up on the way. Usagi walked up to the house and pressed the doorbell. "Wuh, Morning already?" Eiko's voice sounded from the open window on the second floor. "Just give me a moment Shik-- Oh, Usagi! Just a moment, let me get dressed." Biko met them at the gate as usual. "Biko, Eiko, are you two free this Saturday?" "I think I might clear my schedule, what do you have in mind?" "I thought we could go down to the mall and hang out, just like ordinary girls." "Yeah, come'on Biko, it sounds like fun." "But, my work, my promise." "You ain't getting nowhere with the warp drive, right?" "No." "Then you need to take a day to goof off and relax. Mall-tralling will clear your head." "I guess, it's alright, to take just one day off." Thursday evening, a motorcycle stood at the side of a road, a helmet placed on its seat. Its rider sat a few meters away, on a rock that overlooked Graviton City, but this young man did not look down on the city. He looked up into the stars, as teardrops slowly fell from his searching eyes. "Kei Yuki?" A girl asked from behind him. "Shiko!?!" He spun around and saw a short blond girl in a schooldress. "No, I'm Usagi Tsukino, pleased to meet you." "Shiko?" Kei sat motionless. "No, Usagi. I've got a favor to ask. Could you come to the mall at one PM on Saturday? I've got this friend I'd like you to meet." "The mall... at one... on Saturday? You want me to come?" "Yes, see you then." She stepped back into the shadows. He waited thirty seconds, afraid to breathe, then rushed forwards, but she was gone. Late Saturday morning, Usagi got off the bus and walked three blocks to the Daitokuji estate. She asked for Biko and was directed to the grounds behind the house. She turned the corner and stopped. "I've got you now Biko!" Eiko threw a kick at Biko's midsection. "Hah!" Biko levitated out of the way, grabbed Eiko's arm and threw her. "What's the meaning of this!" Usagi ran towards the two of them. "Morning Usagi", Biko flipped up the visor on her suit and wiped a hand across her brow, "we're just having a little workout." "No fair Biko, using gravity control like that!" Eiko handed Biko a towel. "You've got gravity control too. You've seen the tapes of yourself running up walls and across ceilings. Why don't you fly around?" "I don't know. If I think about it, it stops working." "It's like those old roadrunner cartoons, only you're the one with selective gravity. Come on, let's hit the showers. We're keeping Usagi waiting." At a quarter to one, by Usagi's new watch, the three girls were sitting at the patio of the American style restaurant outside the mall. Usagi hadn't wanted to accept the wristwatch at first, but Biko had argued that with it's alarm, she be able to get Eiko consistently to school on time. The clincher was Usagi's weakness for black cats, though this one was more humanoid that Luna had been, well most of the time, and carried a satchel. "Hey, it's Miss Ayumi!" Usagi was distracted from reminiscing about the cat who had been her best friend by Eiko's observation. "You three girls seem to be getting along well. No fights recently?" "No ma'am. Well, there was that monster that attacked the school, but other than that, no problems." "A monster attacked the school? My goodness, that must have been quite a sight." Biko leaned over and whispered in Usagi's ear. "Miss Ayumi tends not to notice much outside of class." A motorcycle pulled up to the side of the parking lot and it's rider stood and shook his hair after removing his helmet. He has a certain natural grace, Usagi thought, almost like somebody else I know. Not that there's any comparison. She held one hand to her chest and waved with the other. "Kei, we're over here." He walked up to the table and Usagi turned to the other girls. "Kei Yuki, I'd like you to meet a friend of mine, Biko Daitokuji." "Shiko!" Kei grabbed Usagi from her chair. "No, No, I'm Usagi!" She looked to the other three women for sympathy and found none. Eiko shifted uncomfortably in her chair. Biko looked down, in abject, defeated despair. Miss Ayumi was absolutely furious. "Please, excuse me." She turned and walked away. "Oh Shiko, you've finally come back to me!" "No, I'm Usagi. Please let go." "Shiko, you, you still hate me?" "I don't hate you. I don't know you. It's Biko you should get to know. Just look at her, she's beautiful, glamorous, rich, brilliant..." A thunderous howl sounded from the other side of the cafe. There was a Siamese cat with purple trim standing six feet at the shoulder. Kei was sufficiently distracted that Usagi managed to slip from his grasp. Biko looked at the menace, as the crowd started to stampede away in panic then turned back towards Kei. "Please keep ``Shiko'' safe Kei, I've got something to work out." She threw her street clothes to the side and changed into her battlesuit then flew towards the cat. Eiko looked after Biko, turned to Usagi and Kei, then finally rushed after Biko. Kei reached for Usagi again, but she ran away as quickly as she could. They didn't call her the rabbit for nothing. As she turned the corner she called out, "Moon Crystal Magic". Sailor Moon returned as quickly as she had left and found Eiko and Biko engaged in battle with the cat. "This one is a lot tougher than the last one." Eiko was bleeding from three parallel scratches in her cheek. "You'd best use the missiles Biko." "Too many civilians. We'll have to settle this the old fashioned way." Biko dove in and was swatted aside. "Biko!" Eiko moved in to cover for her friend and the cat looked back and forth between the two of them. At that moment of distraction, a golden disk bounced off its head then returned to Sailor Moon's hand. The Cat held a paw to its skull and Eiko KOed it with one punch to the jaw. Sailor Moon stepped forwards. "Moon Healing Activation." "It's Kumiko!" Eiko knelt by the untransformed girl. "You know her?" "She's from our class." Biko came forwards and picked the girl up. "You two gave her quite a knock to the head, I'd best fly her to the hospital." Eiko watched Biko fly away, then turned back to Sailor Moon. "But what about Usagi and Kei?" "I think I saw Usagi running away OK and as for Kei Yuki." "Shiko!" Kei rushed towards Sailor Moon. "Excuse me please." Sailor Moon put her sailor leaping powers to good use. Usagi waited until Kei rode off then came out from hiding to rejoin Eiko. "Hi, that was some excitement. I think I need to apologise to Biko and you. What was that with Miss Ayumi?" "She was going to marry Kei, but Shiko saved her from that." Henry J. Cobb hcobb@slip.net http://www.io.com/~hcobb
