Colors that are more distant from these focal hues can be named by picking the closest basic color. But Lindiga also has specific names for the colors in the boundary areas between the basic hue categories.

When precision is required, intermediate hues may be named by using adjacent hues in combination. The closer of the two hues is named first, followed by the more distant hue. Thirty different hues in all can be named with this method: the ten basic and secondary hues, plus two intermediate hues between each of them.
mirki-ntiki (mirɡinˈʤiki) "indigo-purple"
silki-lampi (ʃilɡi'lɑmbi) "blue-turquoise" (cyan)
There are three basic categories of lightness in Lindiga: light (rtasi), medium (imři), and dark (narli). Extremely light and dark shades can be named by using the augmentative prefix kai-. Intermediate shades are named by combining two shade names. In all, this system can be used to name 281 different colors: 9 shades of 30 different hues, plus 9 shades of gray, and black and white.

In addition to the systematic colors, Lindiga has a few informal categories for darker and lighter versions of the basic colors. Each of these categories covers two adjacent basic colors: for instance, "proni" (brown) includes dark versions of red and orange, while "pingki" (pink) includes pale versions of red and magenta.

pinki (ˈpiŋɡi) "pink"

Lindiga also has numerous arbitrary color words for specialized purposes. There are also certain fixed compounds, which name specific varieties of the basic colors, like "lizard green" or "mouse brown". Here is just a small sampling of these diverse color terms. See the Lindiga color chart for more examples.
