I can't let recent events go by without comment, but there are no words adequate to express my disappointment in the recent actions of the Bush administration. My sympathies go out to all those who will be harmed by these rash, irresponsible actions. For all those who would rename "French fries" to "freedom fries", I have no sympathy at all. The only thing France is guilty of is trying to resolve the crisis peacefully. It's tempting to imagine how the situation might have been different if the notorious Florida vote had gone the other way, but history can't be changed. Now that our own government has started a war, the anti-American sentiments around the world will no doubt continue to grow. And we dare to call ourselves civilized?
