No Escape!
Here's a neat trick for those of you with Windows 95 or 98 machines. You can customize the tab page you see when you RIGHT click on "My Computer" (or whatever you've renamed your computer) to look something like (minus the blue highlights):

It's easy to add a picture, text and a support button pop-up. You need
to create 2 files for this, one a text file saved as oeminfo.ini and the
other a BMP picture file saved as oemlogo.bmp. If you already have
these files, backup your copies and exchange them with these:
Here's the text you need to copy into oeminfo.ini:
| [general] Manufacturer=Village Industries. Model=Six of One
[Support Information]
|
You can call your Manufactuer and Model anything you want, but you must use
those terms. You can put in any text surrounded by quotes under [Support
Information]. Now, save the file to your C:\windows\system directory
as oeminfo.ini.
Next, you need a picture of size 150x113. Larger or smaller sized pictures
will be cropped to fit on the fly, but may be cut off if not close to the
150x113 specification. Any picture in bmp format will do, saved to
your C:\windows\system directory as oemlogo.bmp.
I've provided a few samples below in JPG format which will need to be
converted by you to a BMP type file. How to do this is beyond
the scope of this discussion, but can be obtained with any decent image editor
like the great freeware editor
IrFanView32.
