The Hunters

This is printed and in the envelope waiting for postage. Tomorrow, it starts its journey to Glimmer Train.

Quintessence

And this one is also snuggled down in its envelope awaiting postage. Its first stop is The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.

A Slow Sunday

I just remembered I didn't do laundry. Or rather, I didn't do my laundry. The kid's laundry is clean. Oh, well. I'll pop a load in for me in a few minutes.

I have done virtually nothing today. It feels great! Yesterday, now, I got the car inspected, oil changed (and system flushed). Did a massive grocery buying, which I'm fairly proud of. See, I committed one of the 12 Deadly Sins of Grocery Shopping: I went to the store HUNGRY! EEEK! I know better than that. But, I managed to get out of there with very little in the way of Random Exotic Selections. Usually, after a trip like that I'll come home with $150 worth of stuff... and nothing to eat. As it is, the only thing I came home with that's at all extra are 7 heads of garlic to roast.

Speaking of roasts... I have a Pikes Peak roast in the fridge that I was supposed to cook today. Guess who didn't cook. Oh, well. I'll put it on tomorrow night. It'll be better on Tuesday after sitting in the fridge overnight anyway.

Ooh, then Wednesday, I can have pot roast and roasted garlic. Oh, man, my mouth is watering at the mere thought.

Let's see. I did some organizing yesterday, too. I've been wanting to set up a filing system to keep better track of my fiction and where it's been. Since I don't have much yet, it doesn't take much to organize it. Picked up a 13 pocket folder and filed copies of the two stories I have ready to go (I like having hard copies on hand - just in case). As soon as I remember where I stashed my rejections for "The Hunters", I'll add them to that file. Dedicated the last slot to mailing labels. Oh, the first slot is where I stuck my receipt envelope. I spent a while looking for it this year for the taxes, so maybe this will work better. I'll get another one for the stories that actually sell. Since there's only one at the moment, it's not that pressing.

Organization does not come naturally to me (at least not outside of my head). I have to fight every step of the way to keep my 'world' in any kind of shape.

Ah, well. Another week of work starts tomorrow. Joy. Still it beats the alternative.

Unless the alternative is winning the lottery.
