I know, I know, I've already got an online journal going, what the devil's this thing all about? Well, I'll tell you. I see my journal as serving a two-fold purpose. One, it gives me a place to talk about whatever's happening in my life on a daily (or, ahem, weekly, ahem) basis as well as giving me practice in writing for a more generic audience than my email buddies. The second purpose is that it forces me to stand up here in front of god and everybody and admit that I didn't write tonight or that I only did 20 words or whatever. I've actually forced myself to sit down and work rather than make that admission. I've had some of my best nights because of that, too, so I ain't complainin'.

The View from Here, however, is different. This is where I'm going to put my more generic rants, raves and observations on Life in General. They will appear sporadically as the spirit moves me. I intend for them to be about whatever the hell I want them to be about and if you don't like them, you can go to dev/null. I can guarantee that there will be those who object.

Good.

That means I'm on the right track.
