Misc. text exerpts on the nature and expansion ov consciousness


Take all ov the following objectively. I do not claim to be a transcended master, but I have done much homework and have experienced many an occurrence which I still see as being outside the bounds ov ordinary reality in everyday life. The following is scattered thoughts and notes put together. Take it as you will. If you gain even the smallest piece ov wisdom from it, my task is more than complete.

Time, space, mad love, visions ov the world as a guide. Dreams past, future hopes, insanity, reassembled across the abyss on a new plane. Flying, floating through the dream world ov absolute existance. Music rhythmic as the heartbeat, guiding, raising, echoing hollowlly, karma incarnate, dealing out praise and punishment from the same deck. Voices intermingled with the music to form one sound. The sounds ov the world itself, from the bestial mechanical devices ov man to the simple chirps ov nature all combined into a cacophony deciphered all at once by the mind. Ingrained patterns placed in the mind by the source ov all chaos, creating the infinitely complex order through which we float, pretending to be in control ov our own destinies. Guided by the programmed mind, we extend our chaos with each moment that passes, each heartbeat, each breath. Tied to the roles we were intended to play from the time before time. Thrown to the wolves ov the material plane with no knowledge ov our previous states, to be taught by those equally unknowledgable. Nothing to prepare us for the trials ov madness. Assumptions ov future states leads to redirection ov time flow away from desires, always onward to the same goal, unknown to all ov us. Given no choice but to live. No options but the present. Infinite possibilities, all controlled.

Within and without are one. What manifests without is what is manifested within. How can one focus in the proper way if there is no "proper way"? No one can tell you how to live. No one can tell you what to do. No one has your part in life. No one has the possibility to understand you except your self. No one can give you a rulebook. No one can teach you how to play the game. All these things are determined from within. Even the outcome.

Bound by the flow ov time, trials set ahead and passed behind. Daggers surround, and also the trees. Padded cells, cushioned by material goods which have no bearing anywhere but in your cell. The dream world carried on, magnified, extended, piece by piece, the puzzle comes together, but the pieces are scattered across space and time and there's no one way to fit them all together and the puzzle just keeps on getting bigger.

The body acts as the I/O ov the mind and soul. Comprehending and manipulating. Playing the game by ear... and eye... and nose... and feel... and taste....... But beyond all these senses are those perceptions which cannot be put into concrete forms. Intuition which goes beyond space and time. Beyond the prison cell. The understanding which binds us and allows us to comprehend the symbolic nature ov all life. Synchronicity. Union ov the material vehicle with the flow ov chaos. Suspended in a mental state ov extacy. Beyond the conscious mind, yet ever-present. So vast and beyond conscious comprehension, it has been perceived as an external force throughout recorded time. The unknowable, the force that holds the molecules together and keeps the chaos from breaking apart. The same force that keeps thoughts within your head.

Each being is the center ov its own little universe. Each being's relationship to the world is completely different from another's. The only time communication takes place is when two being's understanding ov the world overlaps to some degree. The less overlap, the greater the tendancy for misunderstanding. The greater the overlap, the greater the feeling ov connection and understanding.

Being in touch with the world, the life force itself as guide and guardian, with the aid ov consciousness, the I-not I relationship is expanded into infinity until the two become one. Only then can true understanding take place. Beyond description, beyond words.

One must accept one's own position in this world and all ov its many facets before true progress can be made. To deny one part ov the world is to deny a part ov one's self.

The illusion ov Sin and Guilt, the madness ov our species, is the act ov cursing the world under the misapprehension that one is cursing only one part ov it. To curse the fig tree, as in the funniest and most misunderstood parable ov Jesus, is to curse the soil in which it grew, the seed, the rains, the sun; the whole world, eventually - because no part is truly separate from the whole. The fallacy that one can judge the part in isolation from the whole is the Lie that all men believe.

To attempt to go against one's situation is to battle one's self. You put yourself in whatever position you are in - consciously or not. There is a purpose to all things. To alter one's situation in knowledge ov the present and unknowable future in light ov the past is our only true choice. Working through the present to reach the future. Every action and thought at every moment plays a part in the becoming ov the future. To accept one's position is but the first step.

Mutate now. The world is ripe for change. Act now and we'll throw in a new way ov perceiving everything. You'll never look at anything the same again. Unlimited time offer. No time is too soon. The choice is yours. The evolution ov mankind is at hand! Wake up from your sleep and dream!

Human life can be percieved as the means to evolution ov individual consciousness. We have been raised by strangers who, as us, know so little ov our true nature. Truly, we are gods, thrown into this physical world to transcend it and realize our potential, which goes far beyond our current comprehension. Scientists claim that the average human being uses less than 10% ov brain capability. This leaves much to the imagination as to the full potential ov an individual human consciousness.

One must accept one's position and realize one's ignorance in order to truly begin the process ov expanding one's consciousness. Its not an easy task. One must pass through one's deepest fears, what is known as the dark night ov the soul. The abyss. There's a lot ov power to be gained. Do you think they'd just hand it out to any uncultured goon?

There is a path, as you suspect, to the beyond-mankind, but it is a path ov darkness before it becomes a path ov light. The alchemists call it negrito, the witches symbolize it by the Black Man in their rituals, Saint John ov the Cross called it the Dark Night ov the Soul. It is the Chapel Perilous ov the Grail legend, to which only the perfect fool can be admitted. Do you understand? You have to lose EVERYTHING, and everything includes what you think you know about God. It is very lonely and very frightening.

According to Crowley, magic is the art ov causing change to occur in conformity with will. This change is not specific on outward reality. The microcosm ov the self must be transformed into the proper focus which is known as the True Will. Only by working through one's True Will can change occur. Working with the True Will is having the world giving you a helping hand. To work against one's True Will is pointless and futile. Once inward change is mastered and aligned with the True Will, guided by the world, one follows his True Will and the world is his playground. Following one's true path, nothing can cause one to stray from it. It is a state ov knowing and being which surpasses thought and description. Everthing is a part ov the same thing, therefore, when one is in touch with one's true will, one accepts the world in all its aspects as being a reflection ov one's inner self. If one percieves an imbalance externally, one must make the proper changes within one's self in order to realign the aspect ov one's life which is out ov whack.

A belief which I have adopted is the concept that all physical ailments are manifestations ov either mental or spiritual imbalance or an over- accumulation ov negative energy. Hence a speedier recovery by means ov cleansing: sleep, flushing out the system with fluids, and the intake ov "good" positive symbols; vitamins and medicine, chicken soup (a mother symbol), etc. There have been countless recordings ov "miracle" healings through positive thinking. Incurable diseases which strangely vanish.

One should attempt to appreciate life in all ov its facets, pleasurable and miserable. Being ill, mentally or physically, can be good, for once the illness has been surpassed, one can appreciate the naturally healthy state to a greater degree.

One should meditate on the concept that we create reality with each thought, each action. With this in mind, one should keep quite a close check on one's self. Think positive thoughts, do positive things. o/~ ...keep the devil...way down in the hole... ~\o to quote Tom Waites. We are the masters ov our own destinies. Do not waste your precious time on this planet bickering and sowing hatered. Play your part ov the healing process. We are all a part ov the same whole. Negative feelings can and do manifest outside the body as well as within.

When one begins consciously on the path for one's true will, one should make clear in one's mind that every act and every experience one is placed in is an intentional act ov one's true will/holy guardian angel/divine source to aid one in trancendence. One should abandon all prior beliefs in order for the world to open up one's mind to the true nature ov things.

One started upon one's quest on this planet upon first incarnation. You made the choice to be here to learn your lessons and transcend. You're already enrolled in the class. All you have to do is study. Examine coincidences which occur in your life. Write them down. Soon enough (if not already) coincidence will be too basic a word for the constant occurrence ov synchronous events. Keep a dream journal. Record all you can remember from the previous night's dreams immediately upon waking. Its all up to you. No one can do it for you.

Active contemplation ov magick is like Greek tragedy in calling us to attend with sobriety to eternal mysteries and to experience within our hearts the meaning ov death and the triumph beyond death: but it is more like the music that is the special glory ov our age, the music that it in many cases directly inspired, the music that goes beyond mere beauty to challenge us and inflame us and inspire us to be more glorious beings than we ever thought we could be.

Naive realism, such as is found among savages and some Germanic scholars, accepts the data ov perception without question. Philosophy began with the distinction between the 'apparent universe' - the universe made up ov the data ov perception - and the 'real universe' - which allegedly underlies the universe ov perception and 'explains' it. The 'real universe', then, is assumed to be by definition more 'real' than the 'apparent universe'. But philosophy turns on itself and the mind whirls when we remember suddenly that this so-called real universe is made up entirely ov our theories, our guesses, and the instinct to gossip. It then appears that the 'real universe' like the 'apparent universe' is the creation ov our brains. We then have to assume a triple, or three-headed, cosmology, made up ov the 'apparent universe', created by our senses, and the alleged 'real universe', created by our guesses and gossip, and the REAL 'real universe' which our 'real universe' may or may not resemble greatly. But if the 'real universe' is made up ov theories, this 'REAL real universe' can only be a theory about theories, namely a theory that something may correspond to some theories. Thus we go from inference to inference, and find certainty nowhere. In other words, 'reality' is an assumption and never becomes totally factual.

To revamp our interpretation system means to intend its reconditioning. It means that one deliberately and carefully attempts to enlarge its capabilities. By living in accordance with the sorcerer's way, dreamers save and store the necessary energy to suspend judgment and thus facilitate that intended revamping. If we choose to recondition our interpretation system, reality becomes fluid, and the scope ov what can be real is enhanced without endangering the integrity ov reality.

These energy levels, which have been steadily growing, one day reach a threshold that allows one to disregard assumptions and prejudgments about the nature ov man, reality and perception. That day, one becomes enamored with knowledge, regardless ov logic or functional value, and, above all, regardless ov personal convenience.

  • Valor, which is better expressed as a willingness to accept existential uncertainty, to stand at the abyss ov philosophical becoming, armed only with a knowledge ov potential, and faith in your own ability to become more than you are now; and create all that you need to bridge the chasm with what you can develop from your own potential.

    There can be a difference between "will" and "desire." The will exercises a strong determination toward conscious and deliberate action. Desire, on the other hand, can be whimsical or impulsive. It is the task ov each student to carefully examine his mind and sort out the capricious desires from those strong determinations that mark the will. The quest for one's TRUE WILL, that for which one comes into this world, can take many years.

    Karma is the cause and effect relationship that exists between all things and it operates on all planes ov existance. Every magical act is charged with karma; physical, mental, emotional, and so on. Karma does not reward or punish. It is amoral. It is impersonal. It is ruthless. It continually seeks a balance between extremes and cares not for the ill- fated magician who inadvertently stresses its delicate network.

    Imagination is essential in magic. It is the golden key to the performance ov any magical operation. All ov the usual magic paraphernalia - incense, music, rituals, chants, robes, signs, symbols, and the like - are useful only insofar as they are able to stimulate the imagination.

    The Wand symbolizes the highest will ov the magician. This is the so-called True Will; and individual expression ov the Great Work. It is the aim ov macrocosmic human evolution as expressed in the microcosmic magician. This works best when it is unconscious and is allowed to influence the entire life and life-style ov the magician as a matter ov course.

    The Great Work: The ultimate aim, and only truly worthy purpose ov magic (like mysticism) is to awaken the consciousness ov man to his inherent divinity, the god within. Everyone has an inner spiritual being. The mind and personality are but faint expresssions ov it. The physical body is its far-distant reflection.

    Being an initiate - having an intuitive comprehension ov what reason cannot explain - is a very deep process; it is a slow transformation ov the spirit and ov the body, and it can lead to the exercise ov superior abilities, even to immortality.     It is desirable that all the accepted ideas ov humanity be undermined and subverted by any and all means possible. Faith (vis., belief without experience ov personal contact with the Living One) is the great enemy, the iron out ov which are forged the chains ov tyranny and superstition which retard humanity's progress toward the Great Work. Doubt, in the form ov dogmatic atheism, may also become just another faith, another prison for the mind. What we wish to encourage is UNCERTAINTY. People must be convinced not just that the priest may be a humbug and the judge a thief, but that all systems ov philosophy are equally dubious, that all papal bulls are as absurd as picaresque novels, that the latest scientific theories are no more infallible than papal bulls, etc.; in short, that all books are works ov fiction, whether they are so labeled or not.

    The candidate knows that as unrelenting doubt is our sword, paradox and satire are our catapults and cannons. We must learn to hide in ambush, as it were. "Who is near me is near the fire." To know the Living One, humanity must come out ov the cells and closets ov ideas and dogmas; life must become an experience like unto reading a novel in which it is never clear from one page to the next whether the matter is comic or tragic, who is the hero and who the villain, what is meaningful and what is happenstance or coincidence.

    He is nearest to enlightenment who walks into a dark cave alone, for such a one has no fixed ideas but is alert in every cell and watchful every second. We are all in such dark caves every day, as Plato tried to teach, but we do not realize it and our fixed ideas keep us sleepwalking when it is most necessary that we awaken.

    We are all lacking in true understanding, and each being progresses in its own way. The options are endless for the earnest seeker, for all ov life is a guide. Everything is a key to the mysteries. Books, tarot, meditation, music, to name but a few. But all ov these can only be an aid when seen in the light ov one's present condition. Assimilate all knowledge which passes through the brain, accepting all with a grain ov salt until a basis ov true understanding can be reached. This is but the beginning ov wisdom. One must let go ov all preconceived notions and dive into the ocean ov the senses in order to experience the symbiotic relationship between one's self and one's environment. Beyond a certain point, the whole universe becomes a continuous process ov initiation.

    I no longer try to change outer things. They are simply a reflection. I change my inner perception and the outer reveals the beauty so long obscured by my own attitude. I concentrate on my inner vision and find my outer view transformed. I find myself attuned to the grandeur ov life and in unison with the perfect order ov the universe.

    The truth ov the mind is no more visible to ordinary sense than the truth ov astronomy. The self that you know is like the earth: it only seems to be the center. The Inner Light is the true center, as the sun is the true center in astronomy. To find the inner sun or Holy Grail is the aim ov the study and contemplation ov magick.

    The lonely man, mistrustful ov himself, can find solace in taking sides AGAINST himself. To think that the world is right and I am wrong: that is the courage ov solitary doubt. And yet it is also the way to one's true self, the essence that can be found only when vanity is rejected as the shabby, flattering beggar it is.

    There is something for which we do not have a name, something that will not allow us to lie to it: it instantly punishes every evasion, every weakness. It will not allow us to escape our burdens. Being haunted by this demon is the situation ov the "initiate", the elect.

    Only inner warfare ov this sort causes us to descend to the bottom ov things and put away all easy answers, even "philosophy", even "profundity". Then, at the bottom ov the pit that has no bottom, we may look the Tyrant in the eye and know who he is, who Destiny is, and what he wants ov us. This does not make us "better" at all. It makes us twin brothers to necessity.

    There are potentially at least eight souls. We are born with one, but how many we develop is a matter ov education and hard work and, to tell you the truth, luck. The three souls Aristotle knew about are just the average at this stage ov human development.

    The first soul is vegetative, as Aristotle said. It is the same in you and me and plants. It feels terror when threatened and happiness when it is fed or nourished, and that is about all it feels or knows. It is quite mechanical. This primitive soul - which you can observe easily in newborn infants - cannot speak and communicates in signs. All physical illness, without exception, is the sign language ov this vegetative mind.

    The animal soul is characteristic, not just ov beasts, but ov barbaric men, those men who fight over territory. But you must remember that we each contain that barbaric psyche, just as we contain the more primitive vegetative psyche.

    The human soul, the pure reason, comes in on top ov all that and is often overrulled by vegetative fears or barbaric angers. In fact, reason very seldom overrules these older parts ov the mind: more generally it perverts itself to find rationalizations to justify them.

    The fourth soul is your will united with the will ov God. The fourth soul is formed "as in a refiner's fire", the scriptures say. The need for this fourth "soul" or higher faculty is that mankind today is not a FINISHED creature but a being in the process ov transcending its own past. We are still, as the mystics say, asleep: we do not know who we are or what it is possible for us to do.

    The "fourth soul", or emerging brain, perceives the invisible web ov connections between all things; but it is no more infallible than the rest ov the brain, or the gut, or the liver, or the gonads. It merely works without effort, unlike the more primitive parts ov the brain, which is why Meanings Seem to Flow Into Us when this is activated, and we forget that we are still creating the meanings. We imagine we are "receiving revelations", and hence we do not take responsibility or exercise any prudence or common sense.

    The Eight Circuit Brain


    Most humans only access the first four circuits. These circuits are known as the terrestrial circuits, which correspond to the four regions ov Malkuth. It is the activities ov these four circuits that is observed by, and forms the basis ov the behavioral schools ov psychology. These circuits and their roles are:

    1) The bio-survival circuit :

    EARTH - PLATTER/DISKS/COINS - VALOR - NORTH - The fight or flight response, automatic and very basic responses to situations. Basic security, or otherwise.

    2) The emotional circuit :

    WATER - CUPS/CHALICES - SYMPATHY - WEST - Sociobiological, hierarchial structures, status, your place in the human pecking order.

    3) The semantic manipulative circuit :

    AIR - ATHAME/AIR DAGGER/SWORDS - REASON - EAST - Time binding, the capacity to reason and extrapolate, construction ov semantic maps, dexterity, the development and application ov technology (tool using).

    4) The socio-sexual circuit :

    FIRE - WANDS - INTUITION - SOUTH - The choice or imprinting ov sex roles, morality and moral stance, social roles.
    The next four circuits are in a sense the most important ones in relation to magick, but they cannot be regarded as separate to the first four because the lower circuits provide either the base upon which high magick is built, or the power energizing system which low magick uses to achieve its ends. The transformation ov the consciousness associated with what is known as "The Dark Night ov The Soul", or the crossing ov the abyss, ov which more shall be said later. The four higher/extra terrestrial circuits are :

    5) The holistic, neurosomantic circuit :

    Organising and directing bio-energy, reaching out from the body-mind to cause effects elsewhere in spacetime, bliss, extacy, rapture, the healing ov others and self, magick in general. More specifically, the raising ov the Kundalini serpent. This circuit can be activated by pranayama and/or the ingestion ov cannabis drugs or prolonged sexual play without orgasm. A permanent neurosomatic circuit can only be imprinted by prolonged practise ov one ov the yogic, Tantric or related sciences, and perhaps good genes, good environments and good luck generally.

    6) The collective neurogenetic circuit :

    Access to the phylogenetic unconscious, otherwise known as the akashic records, the DNA-RNA dialogue, archetypal communication, memories ov past lives, vistas ov the future, some out ov body experiences. Heavy doses ov LSD, ov course, always trigger temporary neurogenetic vistas. This is also the realm ov synchronicity.

    7) The metaprogramming circuit :

    Detachment from usual game playing and role structures, particularly in relation to other people, choice ov reactions to above, choice ov multiple tunnel realities and reality gestalts, meta-programming, that is, controlling one's own programs - pushing your own buttons, the consciousness ov abstracting. Known as "no-mind" (wu-shin) in China, the White Light ov the Void in Tibetan Buddhism.

    8) The non-local quantum circuit :

    Out ov body experiences (OOBE), premonitions, union with the divine consciousness. Such experiences can be triggered by advanced yoga practice and also occur spontaneously during what is called "near-death" or "clinical death". Also reported in shamanic traditions and occasionally under heavy doses ov LSD.
    The days ov the week synchronously correspond to the first seven circuits (the eighth circuit is non-local, and hence, beyond description.)
  • Monday = the day ov the moon goddess = bonding to the mother = oral bio-survival circuit.
  • Tuesday = the day ov the war god, Tuew = anal-emotional circuit
  • Wednesday = the day ov communication, Wotan = speech = semantic circuit
  • Thursday = the day ov the father god, Thor = parenthood = socio-sexual circuit
  • Friday = the day ov the sex goddess, Freya = Tantric rapture = neurosomantic circuit
  • Saturday = the day ov the god ov the past, Saturn = genetic memory = neurogenetic circuit
  • Sunday = the day ov the sun god = illumination = metaprogramming circuit

    I've had a team working on this over and over the past few weeks, and what we've come up with can be reduced to two fundamental concepts... One...people are not wearing enough hats. Two...matter is energy; in the Universe there are many energy fields which we cannot normally perceive. Some energies have a spiritual source which act upon a person's soul. However, this soul does not exist ab initio, as orthodox Christianity teaches; it has to be brought into existence by a process ov guided self-observation. However, this is rarely achieved owing to man's unique ability to be distracted from spiritual matters by everyday trivia.

    Human beings are energy fields, that is all matter though perceived by our senses as solid, is actually composed ov a dancing inter-connected web ov energy. We can say that this web ov energy is ov four forms, or spheres ov potential. You must undestand here, that we are constructing models within which we can organise our perceptions and concepts (Tree ov Life). This human energy is not static, on the contrary, it flows and can be made to flow very strongly. This flowing ov the human energy fields is what the modern humanist psychological philosophies aim to achieve. On the principle that when it flows fully, then obstructions, mental and psychic pollution, will be cleansed away to leave the subject in a better and healthier state. Much ov the teachings ov the eastern mystical schools are also used to get this energy flowing and to empower and energise the fifth and higher circuits (Kundalini). If you intend to tread the path ov high magick, it is necessary to bring about this balance before you go any further.

    The magick circle is a neurological construct which awakens energies and temporarily equilibriates the four lower circuits. When this is done, then the fifth circuit is temporarily brought into action for the duration ov the magickal rite in a safe, precise manner. The use ov this fifth circuit gives the magician the ability to effect and manipulate reality, or else to awaken, explore, and use the energy ov the higher circuits and the planes with which they interact.
