Suggested Music
Some people seem to have an ear for music. I've found that most
people need to hear a song a number of times before really
getting into it and understanding the message, particularly the
deeper the music is. The majority of music that I listen to has
what I like to refer to as a "high learning curve". You have to
either be in an extremely receptive state, or listen to it many
times to get the full experience of it. This makes DJing at
house parties rather difficult, as people seem to be more
interested in music with a good beat to keep their attention when
there's socializing to be done.
I feel most alone when I have lost the immediate connection to the moment
through music. When music doesn't speak directly to my soul, its like an
emptiness which can only be filled by letting go and trusting in the sonic
vibrations around me. It's an aspect of life that can reunite the feeling
of separation between the self and the external world. Like a drug, its
ever-tempting depths seem unreachable, a fleeting dream. Intoxication,
not to hinder consciousness, but to enhance the listening experience, to
delve deeper into the ever-welcoming arms of music, my secret lover.
