Welcome to Karsten's Favorite Anime Fanfics!
"If you only read n fanfics this year, read these."
(Well, they're my favorites, anyway...)
Currently undergoing a major revision... please be patient...
You are the
visitor here since the last time the counter got reset.
Do not e-mail me stories without asking first!
Any story sent to me without first asking will be ignored! This
is NOT an archive site!
Sorry, but I'm getting tired of people sending me mail saying
"Here, put this on your page" and attaching a 200k story. If
you want your story read, please, post it to
RAAC. Don't be afraid to ask;
just don't email me a story without my OK.

Notes (Read these!):
- You may want to register this page with URL-Minder (see above), as I now have
a job, so this page will
be updated somewhat irregularly.
- All the fics here are pkzipped to save space. If you got this far and still don't
have an unzip program, PKWARE has versions for
DOS, Windows and OS/2; Also, you can get Winzip
(which is what I use) or NetZIP (which integrates
itself into your browser). I've been told that Mac users can use Stuffit Expander, which
can be found at www.shareware.com. If you have
some other system, please give me
a link to an unzipper program so I can put it here.
- They are roughly grouped by author, but otherwise are in no
particular order, and the authors are in no particular order (though I
may alphebetize them if I get bored).
- If you can write a better description for one of these than I did,
send it to me and I
may put it up.
- Things I don't have are listed in italics (although I think Lynx shows
them underlined, or maybe blue, depending on your system).
- The first size listed is for the zip files, the second is how much space the
file(s) take(s) up unzipped.
- I have the fanfics numbered for a reason; read them in order or risk confusion! (Of
course, AOL's browser doesn't always number them all correctly. Run one of the
browsers listed at the bottom of this page instead.)
- Read the Read Me files!
- Get Reflow 5 so these will look nice in any word processor.
- If you have any parts of the stories here that I don't,
ask me if I need them
before sending them to me, so I don't end up with 30 copies of them in
my mailbox.
- If you see a fic based on a series you haven't seen, or if
you want to get something else to read, you can probably order it from
, as they seem
to have everything I could think of looking for, and at pretty good prices.

- Just a Dream? by Lew Burden
(lburden@win.bright.net)
Takes place in an alternate Urusei Yatsura universe. This is
a truly excellent fic; it's better than many books I've read. I
highly recommend reading this. Here is an excellent description
of the premise, taken from the beginning of Book 1:
For over two hundred episodes, six movies, and many OVA's we
watched the adventures of the Earth boy Ataru Moroboshi and the
alien girl Lum who moved in with him. Their adventures together
broke the rules of reality with a vengeance, and forced the viewer
to accept the outlandish as commonplace. What if . . . What if
all that was just a series of dreams shared by these two people of
very different worlds?
- Just a Dream? (241k/660k)
Because of this dream world that Ataru seems to return to whenever he sleeps, and
the Oni who inhabits it, he is becoming isolated from his friends, much to his
dismay. Meanwhile, on an invasion fleet approaching Earth, the dreams of
princess Redet Lum are causing some concern among the families. (Description
under construction.)
- Still Dreaming (214k/551k)
To describe this part would give away too much of the previous story, and, if you've
read it, I won't need to talk you into reading this one anyway. The above link is all
14 parts, individual chapters are below.
- "I wish this dream would never end." (23k/60k)
- "Reality is Only Dreaming with One's Eyes Open" (21k/55k)
- "I'm Frightened . . . Will I Dream?" (14k/37k)
- "What a Nightmare!" (13k/31k)
- "Cockroach Dreams, and Stranger Things" (16k/39k)
- "Strange Bedfellows" (16k/39k)
- "Whose dream is this?" (15k/38k)
- "In My Dream I Ran, But I Could not Move" (15k/39k)
- "In a Dreamy Mood" (16k/40k)
- "The Dream of a Hero" (17k/44k)
- "I Saw You in My Dreams" (13k/34k)
- "Living from Dream to Dream" (16k/42k)
- "No More Dreaming" (13k/31k)
- Epilogue: "Kekkon wa onna no ko no yume desu" (11k/26k)
("Weddings Are What Girls Dream About")

- John "Bailesu" Biles
(rhea@maison-otaku.net)
I've found John Biles to be a very good author. His stories are
easy to read, always have some humor in them, but also can be very serious. His stories
tend to grab you early on and keep your attention, making you eagerly await the next part. Fortunately,
some of his stories are actually finished. Unfortunately, most aren't.
Highlights include:
- Sailor Moon Z
(Co-written with Jeff Hosmer)
A "season" of Sailor Moon, which "largely overwrites SS and replaces Stars", it adds new
Senshi, new enemies (of course), and more background on the Silver Millenium, as well as
having a good blend of both the original flavor of Sailor Moon and the humor of John Biles
(and likely that of Jeff Hosmer as well, but I haven't read enough else by him to pick it out).
- Dance of Shiva
Taking place in 2034, this very well written (and complete!) story brings together characters from Bubblegum
Crisis, Tenchi Muyo and Sailor Moon, with other major characters from Patlabor and Kimagure Orange
Road, and various other cameos and references from many, many other series. This is a crossover,
not a fusion, but does an excellent job of combining the series so as not to come into direct
conflict with the "official" canon. One of my all-time favorite fics, I always find my eyes moist
around parts 17 and 18.
- Children of Fire
I noticed this Ranma / Sailor Moon crossover / fusion recenly while browsing through John Biles's
fanfic pages, and found (as I do with many of his stories) that I liked it. It uses a number of
ideas that I hadn't seen done before, or at least not in this way. Only three parts done so far,
but looks to have some potential.
- More will be added and restored from my old page
as I find the time
- Right now I'm mainly working on moving the data from the old page to the new, more descriptive
format I've decided to inflict upon myself.
- As of right now, who and what has or hasn't been moved over doesn't represent my preference,
just what happened to be at the top of my randomly ordered list.
- It will likely be a while before all the old data is moved over, but I wanted to start
so i could get some feedback on the
new format (hint, hint!) before I spend too many hours on it. Does anyone actually visit this
page besides me, anyway?

Yeah, the "normal" next buton had onna-Ranma with red hair, but I liked
it better black, so I pasted in the modified version I did for the
Careful Destiny page.
