From: 00jlfinney@bsuvc.bsu.edu (I'M SORRY BUT I'M JUST THINKING OF THE RIGHT WORDS TO SAY...) Newsgroups: rec.arts.anime Subject: DIY Post-It Note Ofuda! Date: 26 Jan 96 10:13:31 -0500 Organization: Ball State University Ever wanted ofuda like your anime heros that you can stick to stuff (like your friends' foreheads?) REAL ofuda are very expensive, not readily available and don't seem to stick to anything without you adding adhesive. But today I'm going to tell you how to make 100 Post-It Note (tm) Ofuda for under $5.00 (assuming you have most of the stuff needed on hand.) Stuff you'll need: 1 Package small sized Post-It Notes (tm) 1 Glue stick A pencil A magic marker A pair of scissors A ruler A few pieces of 8 1/2x11 white paper Your favorite Ghost Hunting/Demon Exorcising anime A 4 head VCR 1. Divide the pieces of paper into 4- 8 1/2"x2 3/4" sections. This will make the ofuda about the right proportions, if not the right dimensions. 2. Watch you favorite Ghost Hunting/Demon Exorcising anime. Mine include: Ghost Sweeper Mikami Yuu Gen Kai Sha Sailor Moon (Go Rei-chan!!!) 3x3 Eyes Bakuretsu Hunter Devil Hunter Yohko This is *I know* the HARDEST part for you guys. *GRIN* Some of you will watch it over and over...just to get this step right. 3. When you see an ofuda on the screen, freeze the frame (that's where the 4 head part comes in) and copy down the symbols you see. You may have to watch more than one scene or even more than one episode to find what a whole ofuda looks like, since often parts of them are covered up. (For example, I had to watch both the opening credits to the Mikami TV show and the movie to find out what Mikami's ofuda look like. BTW: She uses at least 4 different types.) 4. After you've copied them down, ink them in. If you're special, you can use a brush and india ink. If you're like me, you'll use a magic marker. 5. Go to the local copy store and get 25 copies of the sheet with the symbols on it. Use white or yellow paper, since most ofuda are white or yellow. 6. Cut the ofuda on the copies apart. If you go to a high-class copy store like Kinko's, they'll have a paper cutter you can use. Otherwise, go home and use your scissors. 7. Cover the top Post-It Note (tm) on the stack with glue from the glue stick. Set the ofuda on it and press down hard. Then peel it off and set it aside. Repeat 99 times. You now have 100 paper ofuda to play with. Have fun and remember, they're only for play and won't work on real demons (like your little sister.) :) -Jim. PS: Credit for this idea has to go to my friend Eric, who was the first person to suggest making ofuda with Post-It Notes (tm) to me. -- This message brought to you by Naos: 00jlfinney@orion.bsuvc.bsu.edu "Oh, yeah. I marked it with that line so I wouldn't get it mixed up." *******************************************************************************
