History:
Jeherian is a young angel, in celestial terms, being only 120 years old.
He has served his Superior on a few assignments to the Marches before,
but this is his first assignment to Earth. He has been there for nine
months now, with no specific mission other than to get comfortable in his
role, and to provide weapons as requested by visiting angels.
Jeremy Callahan dropped out of college at Ball State University during his sophomore year. He had lost direction, and did not know what he wanted to do with himself. He enlisted in the army, served one five year hitch, then opted out, having discovered a love for weaponry in all forms. He maintained his military associations by joining the National Guard, in which he has served for ten years, reaching the rank of Captain. He is also active in the local Duchy of the Society for Creative Anachronism, but no longer fights, due to his injury. His knives and swords, many of which he makes himself, are very popular with local SCA folk, and he has begun to get something of a national reputation,
In late 1998, while on maneuvers during his annual two week training with the Guard, a live artillery shell was somehow accidentally mixed in with the mock ammo being used. Jeremy's leg was blown off, and he would have died of shock and blood loss while being treated, had Jeherian not stepped in at this point to assume the role. He was released from the hospital in January of 1999, and returned to his life.
His weapons shop includes a fully functional forge, where he crafts his own blades. One of these which he made for himself is his sword cane. This cane is treated so as to be undetectable as a weapon by most normal scanning devices. He also owns a .357 Magnum pistol, and is liscenced to carry it concealed. He is *not* legally permitted to carry the sword cane.
The shop is located on the North side of town, off of Keystone just north of the Crossing at I-465. It's called simply, "Callahan's Gun and Knife". Jeremy rents a house in Broad Ripple, just west of Keystone near 56th St. That puts it about 4-5 miles from the shop.
Personality:
Jeherian is less flighty than most Kyrios, but still has their vast
curiosity. He roams greater Indianapolis in animal forms at night, when
Jeremy would normally be sleeping. He likes ritualized combat forms,
especially mock swordfights, and is eager to jump in to battle, often
forgetting his physical handicap.
He tends to be trusting, perhaps a bit too much so, except when it comes to providing his "special" weapons. In these cases, he will be meticulous about establishing the identity and purpose of the asking celestial.
In the Callahan role, he is energetic and assertive. He doesn't let his loss slow him down at all, nor does he blame the Guard for his injury. His SCA personas have always been flashy, swashbuckling types, and this is also how he fights when it's for real, although not many have seen that. Distractions are a key to his style, including using animal hosts to harry an opponent, although he will be loath to risk even an insect host's life, if it can be avoided.
His contacts in both the Guard and SCA view him as a standup guy, one who can always be counted on in a crunch. He won't back down from a fight unless it is clearly hopeless. Even then, he might remain if it allows an ally to escape. His Kyriotate ability to use other hosts will prevent him from being forced into celestial form and back to Heaven.
Jeherian's greatest dislike, other than demons, is stubbornness and unwillingness to change and adapt. He is almost Ofanite-like in his belief that change is growth. He will also be sure to attend and participate in any military-related public ceremony or event, such as Memorial Day parades and VFW funstions. He volunteers at the VA Hospital one evening per week, usually Mondays. An avid gun safety advocate, he encourages all firearms customers to patronize the local shooting ranges, and can recommend training classes.
Dress:
Jeremy/Jeherian almost always wears his army fatigue jacket, open over a
grey, black or olive green T-shirt, with faded blue jeans. His rank
insignia has been upgraded to his Guard rank of Captain. On more formal
occasions, he has his dress uniform, as well as a heavy knit fisherman's
sweater and black slacks.
Skills:
Large Weapon (Sword, Rifle), Small Weapon (Pistol), Dodge, Fast Talk,
Knowledge (Metalworking/Swordcraft), Fighting (Brawling)
Songs:
Healing (Corporeal and Celestial - physical and spiritual damage)
Numinous Corpus (grow animal weapons such as claws and fangs)
Attunements:
Kyriotate of The Sword - allows a permanent vessel and role, unlike
other Kyriotates. The role must have been a warrior of some sort, who
would have suffered a meaningless death.
Can attune himself to an item (one of his weapons) and know where it is and how it is being used
Other Notes:
While Jeremy is a completely legitimate weapons dealer, and his permits
and credentials are meticulously kept, Jeherian's assignment makes use
of this front to provide specialized weapons for his fellow Angels in the
area. Any Angel traveling in the Midwestern US who needs such things
will be told to look him up. He will need to ascertain first, however,
that his client is a celestial, before he will even admit to any such
connections.
As a Kyriotate, Jeherian also often makes use of other vessels. His favorite animal hosts are cats and pigeons, although he'll make use of just about anything if the situation calls for it.
Jeremy has a lot of contacts in the Guard and other US Military, as well as the SCA.
