Makechar Files

What is Makechar?

Makechar is a freeware program for MS-DOS, written by Bill Seurer, to assist in making GURPS characters. Unfortunately, it is not available for MacIntosh, Amiga or Unix operating systems and Mr. Seurer can't distribute the source code because of his intellectual property agreement with his employer, IBM. So, don't ask.

A person can make their own data files for the program to individualise the character-creation process to his or her campaign. These are nothing but text files laid out in a particular format. I have written several of these for my campaigns. They both use the same data files and genre file. I don't have the whole program here, only my data and genre files for it.

So where can I get this program?

The GURPSNet-L has a directory that has this program, as well as a couple of other character assistant programs.

Okay, so where are the data files you promised?

Here's my basic genre file for the campaigns:
fanearth.gen

And here are the data files:
fanrthad.dta
fanrthds.dta
fanrthsk.dta
fanlang.dta
magequip.dta
fanspels.dta
faneqp1.dta
faneqp2.dta
faneqp3.dta
faneqp4.dta
quirks.dta

Here's the whole thing zipped, if you would prefer-- fanearth.zip
