Yanah is a mage of considerable natural talent. This, combined with her high intelligence makes for a mage who learns spells quickly and well.
She is also attractive and learned to read from Chris.
Yanah suffers from mild shyness, an addiction to smoking hand-rolled tobacco cigarettes, and color blindness. She started out the game with a bad temper, but has mellowed with time.
PERSONALITY QUIRKS:She is in love with Arkady Gilson, which makes sense as she seems to have a general penchant for tall, blond men. She likes wearing tight-fitting clothes. She likes to bathe every day-- which can be a challenge when travelling in the wilds. She also acquired a severe dislike for things dead and undead when she was left to guard Leotie's body, which had been drained of blood, probably by a vampire.
SKILLS:Yanah's main abilities are in spells. Nonetheless, it has been observed that she is quite accomplished in cooking and first aid. She seems to speak only her native tongue, Midlands English, and no other.
SPELLS:Yanah has been observed to cast the following spells:
Lend Strength, Flesh to Stone, Detect Magic, Fireball (one of her personal favorites), Dispel Magic, Levitation, and Breathe Water.
HISTORY:Yanah was born Feb. 27, 290, in the Royal demesne. Her parents died when she was small, and she was raised by her three older brothers. The eldest died in a house fire a few years later and the two younger brothers, perhaps feeling unable to raise her by themselves, took her to a local sorceress, Adriana Fic, who had been unable to have children. They left her there and were never seen by her again.
Her name was probably originally Johanna, but the sorceress called her Yanah. She was raised as the sorceress' own daughter. As it became obvious that Yanah was extremely intelligent and gifted in the ways of magic, the sorceress also taught her that craft.
When Yanah was 24, the sorceress died and Yanah was left on her own. Yanah took the small inheritance from the sorceress and set off wandering, living by casting spells for a fee. After several months, she ended up in Morgantown.
There, she happened upon a girl named Brigida from the baronial household. Brigida was the daughter of the head cook and was also apprenticing under the baron's wizard, Tace Magus. Brigida saw her perform some feat of magic and sought her out to discover how it was done, as her master had never demonstrated that particular spell. Yanah had no time for a young hanger-on like Brigida and was quite curt with her, not knowing her position. But, she had piqued Brigida's interest and the girl told her master about the ladymage she had seen. This, in turn, piqued Tace's interest and he sought Yanah out himself.
Tace was not to be put out by Yanah's temper, indeed seemed to regard it as somewhat of a challenge, and eventually learned the extent of her training and knowledge. While her skills were quite scattered among various colleges, she nonetheless had a very useful collection and Tace suggested she might seek more permanent employment with the baron-- not as his replacement, of course, but as a member of a special team of troubleshooters the baron was putting together. Yanah eventually did so, and was hired.
