About Wake Up

Wake Up is a place for me to point people toward news and opinions that reflect my political and social views, and a place for my own thoughts and comments too. As you can likely figure out from my choice of topics (and which way I lean on those topics), my personal politics are very much those of the left, though I don't consider myself a "liberal" in the current sense of the word. Maybe "progressive" would be closer, but that's one of those labels that covers a lot of territory and doesn't do a very good job of actually defining anything. If pressed for a party affiliation, my choice would probably be either Democratic Socialist or Green, though there are definitely issues on which I disagree with one or both of them.
