Austin, Texas, Web publishing company, VersaCom Inc., needed in-house help expanding and maintaining its existing umbrella Web sites, the GrowZone and the FoodserviceConnection. MJR Publishing Services was responsible for creating “storefront” Web sites for the GrowZone’s new customers, many of them small businesses in the horticulture industry. These small online brochures or fliers, were an inexpensive means for the small nursery owner to reach a wide base of customers visiting the GrowZone.

Jane Ross reports, “VersaCom needed to provide attractive individually customized sites for its customers to a tight budget. I was able to provide 20 such sites, each one individually designed to a tight schedule but a high standard. The customers were very happy with the design and turnaround on new sites, and each new site brought in new traffic and increased sponsor dollars for VersaCom.”

Maintenance

In addition, MJR Publishing Services maintained the Nursery Association sites, including such industry leaders as the New England Nursery and Landscape Association’s Web site, hosted by VersaCom. Foodservice industry Web sites maintained for VersaCom included the California Restaurant Association Web site, and a dozen other of the country's largest restaurant associations’ Web sites, all hosted by Versacom.

BANNER ADS

Of course, banner ads are an important part of a Web publisher’s sponsorship package. For VersaCom, MJR designed several banner ads to appear on their GrowZone home page.

Since 1999, the GrowZone has relocated to Englewood Colorado under new ownership.
