1984 Keen Edge Music & 1990 Rounder Records: Philo CD 1108
No Kinda Dancer was Robert's debut release. It has since been re-issued by his current label Sugar Hill Records (SH-CD 1049) and contains a previously unreleased track, "Song for Kathy," a song about his younger sister.
This album sees a much younger Keen at work. Many say it has a much more bluegrass sound. It contains the original studio verion of "The Front Porch Song" which Robert co-wrote with friend, but not housemate, Lyle Lovett. Robert's joked and said that they didn't have a big enough hair dryer.
