Disassembled Games
This page contains actual Atari games, disassembled and reverse
engineered. That is, they're 6502 listings with comments
that tell you what is going on in the code.
- Combat Updated 2/26/97. Reverse-engineered
by Nick Bensema. One of the first public-released reverse-engineering
attempts. Compiles with DASM.
- Solaris --
original source code by Doug Neubauer, transcribed by Bob Colbert. Off-site
link.
- Adventure, disassembled by Simon Cornwell.
Almost every line of code
is explained here. Strange format, hex numbers have & and there are
no equates; it is allegedly based on BBC Micro assembler language. But
still a smashing job.
VGR used these notes to write a DOS clone
of the game, called Indenture. Find out more about the game from the author
himself, including a PowerPoint presentation, at Warren Robinett's Adventure page.
- Freeway Reverse-engineered by Bill Heineman,
Very complete. Compiles on an Apple II; it's that old. :-)
Defender Updated 2/24/97. Far from even
close to coherent, but it does compile.
