The National HRO 500 retained the HRO Style dial of it's namesake but
little else. Direct single KHz frequency readout was provided from 5 KHz
to 30 MHz in 60 500KHz bands. One hold over from an earlier era is the
crystal calibrator. It's there and it works but there is little need for it.
This is the only 32 pound transistor radio in
my collection. It can be operated from 12VDC @ 200mA.
This view of the HRO 500 receiver "shows
the unusually neat and straightforward layout of the component parts, as
well as the rugged chassis and panel construction".
