Just click here if you want to fly straight in to the SITE index. Important announcement: I will begin porting my websites to Frontier5 soon. So, expect a few bugs; I will have to port the smaller sites first as a learning experience. Frontier is the engine that powers most of my websites now, and it is even better with the crossplatform support (although I have no idea why Dave is so fixated on Microsoft as a partner). I detest the practice of many web designers to sell their souls to either Netscape or Microsoft, and declare that their pages are "best viewed" with one browser or another. I make no such demands of people. All I ask is an open mind. After all, that is what is wonderful about the web, it is about inclusion, not exclusion. That being said, do come on in! I use Lynx, a text based browser, extensively myself, and I think that this site still provides a lot of content without the bulk and slowdown of graphics and other fluff.
Of course, I would love to hear any comments and suggestions you may have. Oh, that. That's the Chinese symbol for 'correct". |
For those of you using the media-heavy bruisers among browsers, Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer, I use features that take advantage of your browsers, too. If you would like to tool up for this incursion, I ask that you prepare your system first. Don't worry, I am asking for only two very minimal additions to the standard distributions of either Navigator or IE:
1. Free Fonts from Microsoft: Fonts are available for both Macintosh and Windows
2. The small ShockWave Flash player from Macromedia. Download it from here (download will proceed in another window, close it when you are done): I am a big fan of the engineers behind FutureWave technologies, but the team is now part of Macromedia, and FutureSplash streaming vector graphics are now part of the ShockWave family. It enables me to put some big graphics on a page without worrying about file size. Players are available for Mac, Windows, and now Java. The plug in is small, and a quick download. IE users get an ActiveX control.
